Question

Scared..

My friend just decided to tell me that the silver thing they checked my cervix with can open your cervix and bring on labour? Should they not have used that silver thingy?

Checking internally is more of a danger in the first trimester as far as I am aware and more a concern if you have a history of losses (in the first tri). Even with my history I needed this.

Its safe - don't panic! They are very careful and know what they are doing!

Tell your friend to shush !!! Seriously does everyone want to worry you to death through your pregnancy!

If there was a risk I doubt they would have used it on you. Can I make asuggestion, and I really don't mean to be personal or horrible but please stop listening to friends and googling symptoms etc as all this is doing is making you panic and that is really not good for you or for baby. You were examined and everyhting is fine so just relax and enjoy your pregnancy.
I had a cervical check where they used the silver instrument and my baby was just fine.

Even if stuff like that is true, sometimes it's just better not to tell me lol! I wish she wouldn't have. I didn't think they would've done anything that would've harmed the baby but I had to check. Thanks

Oh goodness, don't listen to her. The BEST person to talk to is other women who are/were pregnant and your doctor/midwife....some people are always full of empty advice hun. Don't panic.

I agree with Beanie

& you - sometimes you just wish people would keep things to them selves. You panic enough lol no offence,

I assume the silver thing was a speculum. Used more to open up vagina so they can access cervix , rather than to open cervix itself.
