Are some of you saying it even hurts your cervix when you are in labour and they check how dilated you are? because it didn't hurt for me at all.. saying that, I was already in so much pain so a bit more wouldn't have made a difference.

Ditto to that. I really wouldn't have noticed they were doing anything if they hadn't have told me.

That's because in essence the cervix is what is being worked in the early stages of labor, and it already hurts, or is numb from baby's head.

Contractions in part use the baby's head to bear down on the cervix and continue to ripen it, open it, and flatten it for baby's birth.

When I was in labor, the chekcing of my cervix didn't hurt at my cervix, it was the lady who couldn't friggin find my cervix and had her hand up there beyond what was necessary.

When I went in at 11 weeks the nurse did this thing where she put her hand up there and pressed on my belly to feel my womb. THAT hurt. A lot. And when they tell you not to go to the loo either... ouch

pleased everythings ok. Stress can bring on pain too remember, so relax!

I feel alot better today. I was just extremely shocked at how much it hurt. It was some silver thing she put in there?! I have no idea but when she turned it I could hear it clicking. When she said "you may feel some slight discomfort" I wasn't exactly prepared for what came next. Happy as larry today though. So glad little ones O.K. and I feel so relieved. Thanks for your comments guysss x

Im glad I said "um no thank you" at my scan the other day when the lady said "would you like an internal scan to check your cervix, its optional"

Wow didn't know it would be a painful thing..

Has anyone said yes?

They'll have to do it eventually anyway and it's probably not AS BAD as I thought it was at the time. I was just really shocked because I wasn't expecting it to be more than a pinch
