Has anyone not told work yet?

I am 15 weeks on Wednesday and I still haven't told my work yet.

My boss is on sick leave and now it looks like he is going to be off for 3 months! I need to do something about telling them but am nervous cause I have only been with the company for about 8 months.

Anyone else not told work yet?

I told my boss at 9 weeks as I'm in a school and there are infections that can occur that I must avoid (like Slap Cheek). But I didn't tell anyone else until 13 weeks. You don't have to tell your boss until you receive your Mat B form at 24 weeks, which for you would be around the time your boss will be back but it is better to tell them if they have to find a replacement for you.

Whoever replaces your boss during the next three weeks could be the person you tell, don;t worry or feel bad for only being there 8 months, you have every right to fall pregnant and are under no obligation contractually not to! Let them know as soon as you feel ready and don't take any crap for being pregnant. My boss whooped when I told her and I felt so bad for leaving (obviously not then but in the future) I apologised. She said not to be silly that all of that is just paper work and yes a pain but no reason to be anything but delighted.

Good luck!

I just told my boss at work 2 weeks ago at 15.5. weeks. I posted a thread about it, but basically I was forced into it because they wanted me to run a project that would take 2 years. I had to tell him right then and there - he knew by my "ummmm" reaction something was up. But he hasn't told anyone else there - so he and the other partner are the only ones who know. I am hoping to wait until 19w to tell the rest of the office (after my scan/mw appointment/genetic testing result)
I would probably mention it sooner rather than later if he was going to be away - especially if I had a good relationship with the boss. But if not, you can always tell the person who will be filling in. I wouldn't worry about 8 months - I hadn't been at my job overly long (1.5 years) and they were disappointed that I wouldn't be working there past dec, but overall were happy for me. Is the reason you are holding off because of the time you have been there? Cuz thats not going to change LOL - if you wait a month until you have been working 9mos, then it is just a month sooner that you go on mat leave!!! If thats the only reason, then I would bite the bullet and tell
I'm sure it will work out Good Luck!!

I think you should tell whoever is covering for your boss as soon as you feel comfortable doing so - they have no right to be anything other than okay about it regardless of how long you have worked there.

My boss is currently on maternity leave and so I had to tell her boss (who I've never really got on with) and he was absolutely brilliant. He was doing my mid-year appraisal and I felt I had to tell him rather than sitting there agreeing to long term goals that I'd be unable to fulfil. He said all the right things (and seemed v sincere) and even went as far as to reassure me that it wouldn't affect the promotion he'll be recommending me for at year end (I'm due in December). Not sure that'll happen but he made all the right noises and I felt far better having told him.

Do it when you feel ready.

Thanks for the responses girls, helps put my mind at rest that I am not the latest but I think I need to do something about it sooner rather than later. I suppose I would have told them had my boss suddenly gone off sick and it is a worry to know who to tell, HR, my boss's boss etc. (there is no cover arranged)

Just have to get on with it! I suppose I am just worrying unecessarily - like everything else in this pregnancy!

If your boss isn't there, I would start with HR. Ask HR what to do, then probably tell your boss's boss.
