| Do you really need a full bladder on 20 week scan? I have hd my letter through and it says make sure you have a FULL BLADDER in all bold etc as it could delay things?
I didnt have a full bladder and got a really good pic of baby! I would have thought cos baby was bigger at 20 week scan then I wouldnt need one?
Just hate needing a wee!!!!

| Nope... i think when they say full bladder, they dont mean so full you're going to pee yourself! your baby is much bigger at this stage so your bladder doesn't need to be as full. The main reason for having a decently filled bladder is to move your baby up out of your pelvis

| my sis is pregnant with twins and she had her 20 week scan a few weeks ago, her letter said she needed a full bladder, she then had to wait ages for her scan and eventually she had to tell someone that she could not wait for the loo any longer, i think it was the receptionist that said, "oh you dont need one at 20 weeks" lol thats only one story obviously i guess it just depends | | | | Status: Offline

| Glad you've posted this I was wondering the same thing.
I never received a letter for my 20 week scan - it was booked after my 12 week one and didnt no whether you'd need to be fit to burst again

| I was the same as Purpledaisy - my 20wk scan was booked immediately after my 12wk scan, so I received no letter of guidance.
I decided to compromise by not emptying my bladder, but not being uncomfortably full either (so probably half-full). Nothing was said at the scan, and we got good photos.
I'm going to be having more scans now for placenta checks, and nobody's said anything about bladder fullness, but I'm guessing as time goes on, it becomes far less necessary. | | | | Status: Online

| I was told to have a full bladder but than when i talked to the sonographer she said even a bottle of water was fine as long as its something i had totally forgot haha. The time before i almost peed my pants i drank so much lol. I go for my 4d on monday and i dont have to drink anything how weird eh i guess as they get bigger its easier or something dunno. I would say drink something but not to the point of discomfort. | | | | Status: Offline

| My 20 week scan is on Thursday and I was told that I had to have a full bladder for that scan. None of my other scans were like that but since this scan is at a 3rd party and is a more powerful scan, they require your bladder full. I am TERRIFIED. I swear I need to invest in some Depends.
