For those of you who have had previous caesaereans...

Are you electing to have another one or going for a VBAC? And what are your reasons?

I have to meet with my consultant to discuss this and the more I think about it the more I tie myself in knots and can't decide. I really want to make some sort of decision before my appointment so I can put forward a decent argument of my reasoning...

i had emergency CS after failure to progress i was in labour from the Friday on and off until the Sunday when i went to hospital and i stayed 2cm dil until baby was born by CS on Monday 6pm.

I have been told i have group b strep. I had to be put asleep for the section and didn't get to hold baby until the next morning as i didn't take to well to the general anaesthetic. so part of me says for the safety of baby with this group b strep, and to save another emergency CS situation maybe i should opt for an elective CS as i know they would make sure i was awake for it and i would be one of the first to see my baby this time! They told me they would discuss it further at my 28week appointment, whatever the consultant recommends i will go for as the guy i am under is one of the best around and i know he will want whatever is best for me and baby xx

My first was a c-section and since then Ive had 4 vbac's...Im hoping this will be another vbac. IMO the vbacs were so much easier to recover from and I got to spend time with the babies immediately.

My first was an emergency c-section. I would love to attempty a VBAC, but unfortunately my local hospital does not perform VBACs. I could opt to travel to our regional hospital 4 hrs by air, but I'd have to leave my home by 36 weeks and stay until delivery at my own expense. I'll have a little one in Kindergarten this fall so it's not feasible for us to try.

I ended up with an emergency c-section last time due to failure to progress in labour (i didn't dilate) and after 14 hours of active labour and not dilating i had the section. I'm having an elective this time as i don't want to go through that again, and would rather just have the section and be done with it. Don't get me wrong, i am fully aware of the implications of a c-section, that it's major surgery and longer recovery time etc, but it is still my preferred method of delivery. I know a couple of other girls who had previous emergency cs and opted for an elective second time round, and both are so happy that they did it that way.

I'm just going to have a c-section again, I'm dreading the recovery, but don't want to sacrifice my vag haha, also there are small risks that I just want to avoid. And my hubby can take his paid vacation then which will give me time to recover.

If I am lucky enough to get that far again I would like a VBAC however I would not have an induced VBAC so it would depend on whether I go into labour naturally before 37//38 weeks (due to history that would be as far as I am allowed to go).

I think it depends on your reason for the first c-section too as to what decision you make. I had an emergency c-section 4 weeks early with my 1st because of pre-eclampsia so never experienced any kind of labour, my 2nd was a vbac and it was the most amazing experience and i really hope to be able to do it again this time. I was so immensley proud of myself, got to hold my baby immediately and instantly bonded and felt like his mummy straight away, I didn't get this the first time round. However if you've had a c-section as the end to a traumatic labour for example it would be completely understandable to not want to give labour a shot again.

For me it was the best decision I could've made....i really don't think there is a feeling like it in the world when you have just given birth to an actual person lol!!!
