Sinuses

Is it normal to have AWFUL sinus infections during pregnancy? I just got over the MS, had about 4 days of feeling GREAT, and then two days ago I had the worst stuffy nose and sore throat EVER. I don't have the best sinuses to begin with, but this is just beyond words. I can't breathe through my nose, I've got crazy post-nasal drip making my throat hurt and I can't sleep cause I can't breathe! I've tried using Ocean (the saline nasal spray) and blowing my nose a lot. I'm usually an Afrin (medicated nasal spray) jukie, so this is driving me NUTS! Anyone else suffering due to lack of air? Is it normal? Oh...and what was clear muscus has now gone to yellow/green...

I finally had to go to the doctor's for my sinuses. I had a nasty cold for 3 weeks which turned into a sinus infection. I have been so sick these past 2 months!

I'm not entirely positive about sinuses, but I know that when we're pregnant our noses are more prone to becoming stuffed and we have a hard time breathing in and out of them-- particularly at night time.

When you're pregnant, your mucous membranes in your nose become enlarged, thus keeping in more mucous and closing off the nose.

For the first few months I thought it was my house that was making my nose stuffy because we had just moved in-- then I get a newsletter from BabyCenter saying that pregnancy is the cause. I'm very sick of not being able to breath of out my nose when I sleep lol, I hate waking up with a dry mouth.

Hope you can get it cleared up!! xx

Yes, I have had the same thing on and off. My doctor recommended sleeping with a warm mist humidifier.

I hope it helps

DH got a humidifier from a friend and we tried it last night, but it stunk the room up, so we're going to go buy a new one tonight probably. I sure hope it helps! I have my 16wk appt on Monday so I'll mention this to my OB if I'm still all stuffed up. Thanks!

I've had a lot of sinus problems since I got pregnant (actually since we started TTC) but I have bad allergies anyways (allergic to one of my cats ) and once I couldn't take allergy meds any longer my nose went crazy

Ugh, I hated that part of the pregnancy. I hope you start feeling better hon. I'm sure that humidifier will work wonders.
