Folic acid

I was just wondering if anyone else didn't take much folic acid? Whilst we were TTC I took it nearly everyday then for the first week after I got the bfp I was taking pregnacare but then I got really severe morning sickness and could barely keep food down so only took it occasionally.

I cant really say I ate a lot of folic acid but in like weeks 5-7 I was drinking bottles of orange juice a day (was the only thing I could "eat")

Is the baby going to be ok?

Most of my friends had MS and didnt take the FA during pregnancy and their bundles of joy are all A'ok, and remember our grandparents, back in the day who didnt have anything, billions of healthy children born

I never took folic acid with my first 2 and they are both healthy kids. I only took it for 2 weeks with this one and mw said thats fine. Like Claire788 said there was billions of healthy babies born in the olden days when folic acid wasn't even thought about

I know it's recommended that you take it every day for at least the first 12 weeks and some people carry on taking it for even longer. Personally, i took it from the day of conception up until i was 12 weeks, but i did miss a few days here and there.

I was planning to carry on taking it until the tablets ran out, but i started suffering from hyperemesis at 12+3 so it seemed entirely pointless when i wasn't keeping anything down, as it would just have come straight back up. So i haven't taken any since then.

I wouldn't worry hun as some people don't take it all, and their LO's are fine. Just try to make sure you have a good diet.

I haven't been able to take any FA or pregnacare due to hyperemesis since I was 6 weeks, I still have it and can't take the vits as the iron makes my sickness worse, as someone else said what did we all do before they decided we needed to take these things

I'm just worried because I have my scan on Monday and I always thought if you hadn't bled etc. your baby would be ok but then when I was googling scan pictures I found some people who found at their scan their baby had died several weeks earlier so now I'm worried

Ahh step away from google- you can end up being your own worst enemy when it comes to stuff like this!

Missed miscarriage is less common than a straightforward miscarriage so the chances of you finding something wrong at the scan if you've not had any pain/bleeding etc are thankfully low.

Good luck hun, hopefully everything will be looking great!
