Headaches

Yesterday I had a headache when I woke up. I took some paracetamol and it got a bit better but by the evening it was back and much worse. The light was hurting my eyes so I went to bed but even hours later it was still hurting, especially if I moved my head. I was also very hot apparently. Then thismorning it wasn't so bad but it was still there. I took some more paracetamol but I can still feel it. Is this something I should see the doctor about or is it probably just pregnancy hormones?

Headaches are pretty common throughout your entire pregnancy, and sometimes they can get pretty terrible. Elevated temperature is pretty normal as well, but if you're hot you may be fevered. You might want to go and see your GP as you could be getting ill.

It might be a bug or something, theres quite a lot going round. Id see your doctor just to check, but I dont know. It might be pregnancy related, everything else seems to be! haha

Is your headache accompanied by anything else at all? Any cold symptoms? Hmm I sometimes get a headache if I get out of bed too fast.

I'd say if your headache lasts for more than a few hours at a time then talk to your doc about it. Was your blood pressure fine at your last check-up?

Anita get this checked out ASAP!!!

Both are signs of Preeclampsia..

Although it dosent usually appear until after 20 weeks it can appear at any time during the pregnancy.

If I was you i'd call the midwife immediately. It could be something and nothing but its best to be safe than sorry.

(heres some more info and symptoms)

I get a lot of headaches now that Im pregnant, and some of them do carry on to the next day. Thats completely normal due to all the extra blood flow and hormones in your body. As for your temp, as long as it is short lasting and doesnt get over 101 I was told it was nothing to worry too much about, but you could still check with you MW or doc. I get a lot of hot flashes and I would swear I had a temp, but when I take it its normal. If you are really concerned give your MW a call

I have these occassionally too... In fact, I just had one last evening. It certainly doesn't help when you have a DH and DD who just want you to be happy, and are trying everything they can think of to make you laugh.

I just want you to leave me alone!

(all better now though)

I had preeclampsia with dd, and I definately had headaches with that too, but they were a lot different than what I experienced yesterday. Preeclampsia headaches are "foggy" dull headaches. I remember very little of my last weeks of pregnancy with dd because I was just so 'out of it'.

When I had her, the next day I felt like I had just woken up from a very long doze. It was really odd. I'm hoping I don't develop that with this baby, so I'm trying to take very good care of myself and keep hydrated, etc.

Your MW/doc should be keeping a good eye on you anyway while your getting prenatal care, but if you are still concerned, a quick call to them wouldn't be out of line, especially if this continues for several days.

Headaches are pretty common, but can be serious too. So its always good to mention it to your doctor just to be sure. I suffered from constant headaches from 12-18 weeks, sometimes they would last for days but now everything is fine and I haven't had one in quite awhile. I hope you start feeling better hon

I've had one for almost a week. It starts in my neck, on the right side and is sore and stiff all the way up and around my head. I've taken some tylenol for it, but don't want to take too much of it. Hopefully they go away soon.

Thanks for all your answers. I don't usually get many headaches unless I'm ill. Maybe the odd one but they're normally really mild so this just realy worried me. It was a killer again last night and I once again still have it thismorning. I don't feel ill in any other way. I will go see the doctor tomorrow.
