How many months PG am i if i'm 23 weeks? logic says that a new month starts on the 5th of each month (im due April 5th). midwife mentioned that im quite far through my 5th month but surely im only just 5 months??

Ok, every month itself is 4 1/2 weeks long. You're 23 weeks? Works out like this:

4 1/2 weeks- 1 Month
9 weeks- 2 Months
13 1/2 weeks- 3 Months
18 weeks- 4 Months
22 1/2 weeks- 5 months

So if you're 23 weeks I get that you're about 5 months 1 week. So you're right- maybe you're doc is basing it off the size of your uterus? You might be measuring a few weeks further along? Or they're counting every 4 weeks as a month, which would make you... 5 months 3 weeks. That's probably what she's doing (which makes no sense at all). If she hasn't changed your due date, then count it how you want to. Either way the baby is coming around the same time. Good luck!

I know how you feel, frustrating isn't it?!
Pregnancy is 40 weeks, right?
Well if you say there's 4 weeks in a month then a pregnancy is 10 months!
But, it's 9 calendar months....
I just go by the calendar month, it's hard to figure out ourselves but imagine telling someone else - "I'm 5months if you go by the 9 calendar month method but I'm nearly 6 months if you go by the 10 month method"

Confusing!!!
