hi all ...

im just back from my ultrasound and im a bit confused i thought i was 15+5 but the scanner said i am 16+2 .... everything was ok litle heart beating away .... but the thing is they want me back in 2 wks time to rescan me ....they said the head is measuring to my dates but the limb bones are measuring 3 days behind....the baby was lying in a difficult position to get proper measurments but they have said it is nothing to worry about but i broke down and started crying as i dont know what to think the consultant spoke to me and said he is not worried about it as babys can play catch up and that i am quite small in height and there is no reason to be concerened as he is not but there is no harm in rescaning me to see if baby is in a better position to get measurments but things are looking fine ....but i cant help but worry i have been crying since i got back i have tried googling it but cant find anything my oh is telling me not worry as if the consultant thought it was anything to worry about he would have said but i cant get my head round it ....

has anyone else heard of this or been in this situatian im sure things are fine as the sonographer said she is proberly just being over cautious but another scan wont do any harm .......

i cant stop thinking about it my head is like mush dont know what to think ...

Dont worry over it, its really not a big issue... im 18 weeks 3 days today according to the scan but also the femur (the bone of the leg) measures only at 17 weeks 6 days .... the doctor wasn't concerned at all ... your baby still has ALOT of growing to do he/she will catch up! every baby is different and grows at different rates.

I really wouldnt worry, in early pregnancy there is so much room for measuring early/ahead, quite a few people have to be rescanned

I wouldn't worry too much, although I know that's easy to say. It's only a couple of days difference, which could represent a really really small difference in size, milimetres even. They can't always be that scientific with their measurements, especially if baby is moving around a lot or at a funny angle... I'm sure it will all come out in the wash...

Please try not to worry. I had a private scan (so wasnt medical) at 27+5 weeks and babys head measured 1 day behind of them dates but almost 2 weeks ahead of his body. I mentioned it to midwife as I was really worried too and she said its fine baby grows at different rates and has growth spurts. xxx

they say the heads are so big in the beginnig and their bodies have to play catch up. I would not worry about it!

Please try not to worry, as hard as that may not be. My baby was measured at 12 weeks 4 days as being 13 weeks 3, which isn't actually possible. But she said it has a long back which just made us smile - my husband is like a dog sitting, he has a long back so appears very tall sat down but is actually not that tall in height (short legs). The baby sounds like a mini you, just a little small in stature for now, but they will catch up!
