Downs Test&MW Appt

Hi Ladie's
How Are We All?
Ok Little Question...Ill Be 17weeks This Friday& My MW Appt Wasnt Untill The 22nd June Which Will Then Make Me 19weeks Basically 20! So..I Called MW Because I Was Told By The Sonographer That At 16weeks They Can Check For Downs By Blood? Is That Correct? If So Ive Jus Explained This To MW And Shes Moved My Appt To Monday, =] Im Rather Pleased With That One Because I Wanted The Test Done.. And Too I Dont Have 2 Wait Sooooo Long To Hear HB And To Check Everything Ok..Seems Forever Since I Last See Her..Did Anyone Else Have This Downs Test? What Is It?? =[ Do I Sound Really Stupid!?

At my 12 week scan I had the Nuchal Fold Test where they measure the back of the babies head. This can be an indicator for down's. They took my blood that day and this can tell you if you have a high or low chance of baby having Downs and if you need further testing ie amneocentesis.

I had blood taken at 16 weeks for a quadruple-hormone test for Downs likelihood, currently waiting for the results (but I suspect I'm okay as I haven't received an urgent phone call like some other posters!)

thanks gurls thats really helpful, at my dating scan they coudn't measure the back of the babys head as it was being stubborn and wouldn't turn over this is why she said it will be done at my 16 week appt with MW..Well ill be 17weeks but tht shudnt matter should it?

Also at this appt sorry to be a pain did u take OH with you??? Because we didnt get to hear thr HB At scan, and even though he didnt come with me to first MW appt i didnt hear it ther either, he would really like to come and hear it with me? is that normal or is ther no need for him to come? x

Yes they do the scan and the bloods the same time the very best of luck
