Did they really need THAT MUCH blood?! I couldn't believe it when I saw how much blood they had taken. 5 of them pot things. 1 of which was MASSIVE.

LOL, you should've seen how much blood I had to give for infertility workups and before that, blood for 'liver' problems! 5 would've been WONDERFUL! They usually took 10-12 at a time! Taking ANY blood does suck though, especially if you're not used to it. Hope you don't bruise too badly!

Aww

When I had to go to A&E a couple of weeks ago the stupid doctor tried to get a needle in my hands. Both of them, twice. And he couldn't find a vein.

When he said 'Oops' I demanded he tried my arms instead. Boo.

Ive given blood for years though so Im sort of used to it.

Get used to it love! Think there'll be a few more to go.

Yeah they take loads huh? Well on a good note that will be the last of your blood test for quite a while, until your glucose test during which they usually only take one vile

I have to give blood next week but my midwife is really good, and I didn't bruise at all. One thing she did say was to keep your arm bent for 10 minutes. Just because you don't see blood on the skin doesn't mean the vein is closed, and if you release the pressure too soon, it still bleeds under the skin, causing a brusie.

Oooh thats a good tip.

I must say Im a total wimp when it comes to blood tests. I can't look and i always have to have someone else to come with me lol what a loser...

I've only had 1 load of blood tests done so far and that was when i was about 6 weeks ish.. That was about 5 of those tubes.. and they all came back fine which I was glad about of course !!

How many times do you usually have to have these blood tests?

My doc said my next lot will be in 8 weeks time (that was last week)

But how many more after that, are there set times ??

I just assumed that you had them like every week coz my mam did but she had a difficult pregnancy with my little bro anyway so that was probably it.

My OH had to stand outside the cubicle last time they took my blood because he thought he was going to pass out

Getting blood taken is always scary. But after my stay in the hospital it no longre bothers me. I had so much blood taken several times a week... It was usually 2-5 vials of blood. My poor arms are so bruised
