Peanuts???

When we did our family health questionnaire the midwife advised I stay off Peanuts as DH has Asthma and Hayfever. Apparently if the mother or father has asthma, hayfever, eczema or other allergies there's a chance the baby could be born with a nut allergy. This was backed up in the NHS pregnancy book I was given. Today I was told by someone at work that this is rubbish and that once our baby is born it will suffer more when it eats peanuts as it's never been exposed. I'd really like you're thoughts on this as I'm craving peanut butter!!!

Thanks x

I've heard that, my doc didnt tell me but I read it in my book and online. My DH is allergic to peanuts, and he has asthma, so I'm limiting myself. But I really love peanut butter, and I haven't stopped eating it completely.

[i] asked the doctor at the hospital about this and he said he'd never heard anything like that before and it's silly to not eat peanuts because the child might develop an allergy, when he might have a dairy or wheat allergy which is just as likely.

I guess its down to each individual though. If you dont feel comfortable eating them, then don't but Im not too worried

When I first fell pregnant they told you not to eat nuts. It has now been revealed on the news not so long ago that you're more at risk by not eating nuts as the baby is more likely to be allergic.

At the end of the day alot of food produce you eat day in and day out contains nuts with out you even realising. Unless you check every packet to make sure its nut free.
