unfortunately maternity allowance is only payable to people who have worked and paid national insurance contributions over a certain period of time.
Keep your chin up hun, I know it seems to be a tough time, but it will all be worth it when you see your little one.
take care

You should go to the jobcentre and see what you are entitled to. Aren't you entitled to income support or child benefits? You should be able to get vouchers for money off milk and fresh fruit and crap if your pregnant and also have a kid under a certain age.

We recently joined a website called free cycle. It is full of great things that you could get for free for you lil bean. We have so far managed to get a high chair and a baby bouncer for nothing so saved at least £150 for those 2 items alone.

I'd say it's worth giving it a go, when you register you put in your area and it will only give offers around your area. You just reply to an email if you want an item and the owner will get back to you. The website is: http://www.uk.freecycle.org/

Please give it ago it's saved us a load of money and some of our friends have now registered and saved them money as well. It might cheer you up as well if you get a few bits from here

Good Luck hope you manage to get some stuff

Hiya hun....

I saw your post and it was lke me typing it!

Just recently the world has opened up and swallowed us. I've been signed off sick which has meant our income has lost almost a third of it's value. I have spent the last hour or so looking at all of our income and outgoings, seeing what we can live without, looking at everything, moving things about and making sure we can live.

The only 3 bills you cannot avoid......Rent, Council tax and the weekly shop!!

Everything else, there are ways and means.

I would go onto moenysavingexpert.com and join the forum. It's such a good site and can offer you no end of hints and tips.

Keep the chin up, money will come and have faith...sorry it's not got a lot of substance but without looking in detail at your situation I couldn't say how to make ends meet a little more closely....I know for me there is about 5 miles between ends at the moment!!

You are by no means alone and everyone has either been there, is there or will be there shortly.
