I'm Currently Feeling: | Cats.... Hey guys-
My DH and I recently went to my Mom's and got our cat back. At our appointment a couple weeks ago, the doc said it was ok to take our cat back and just make sure to have DH scoop the litter once a week. There should be no harm to me or the baby in doing this. I'm sure some of you have kept your cats in your house throughout your pregnancy, so I'm wanting to hear from you guys abouto this situation. I just want to make sure it is fine to have my cat there? I miss him so much! Ha! Thanks guys! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm 8 weeks pg so far and i have 5 cats!
I do the tray each time one of them uses it. They are all indoor cats so they all use it. I have an antibacterial hand cleaner that i use each time and i was told by the hospital that this was fine. When OH is home in the evenings he will do the tray but when i'm here on my own during the day there isnt anyone to do it but me. I cant leave it for OH to do when he gets in cos the cats wont use it if its dirty. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Up until a few weeks ago I was cleaning the litter trays (yes, tray's'. We have 17 cats).
There's only really a concern about outdoor cats as they come in contact with 'alien' poo unlike indoor cats. And the chance are that you've already contracted toxplasmosis in the past and would be immune to it now.
When I cleaned the trays I would wear marigold gloves and wash my hands afterwards.
DH only took over doing them because we changed the litter tray size and they're too heavy for me to pick up! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Nice post!! I actually JUST got my 2 cats back from my parents house yesterday!! I am SOOOO Excited!!! I love cats they are my favorite animals and they both are indoor... so we DO have a litterbox. I actually cleaned the poop out this morning with the pooper scooper and then immediately washed my hands... I think as long as we dont go in the litterbox and pick up a piece of poo and eat it... then we are OK.. hahaha | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I think if you have cats already you're likely to be immuned to it anyway | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | All should be fine, we have 3 cats and I just get my hubby to do it. Sometimes I do but I make sure to wash my hands right after. You really have to worry if you have outdoor cats, since they can come in contact with other poo, mice etc. Even then though, as long as you wash your hands and don't breath in the dust, it should be ok. | | | | Status: Offline
