Too early to be swelling already?!?

Today was super hot here--not sure if it made any difference--but my feet, ankles and lower legs are like totally swollen! Ugh. I already had cankles to start with HAHA, but I'm not even 16 weeks, isn't it too early to be swelling like this? Anyone else experiencing this?

you can get water retention and swelling from any stage in pregnancy. it is more common after 20weeks though.

drink plenty of water (i add juice), rest as much as you can and raise your feet/ankles if you can.

Hiya Hun, I have some oedema (swelling) from about 8 weeks. Its just getting worse as time goes on. Every day my cankles seem to get bigger!! Oh well. MW just told me to lie with my feet higher than my head and I am getting a foot rest thingy at work.

I've stopped wearing closed shoes and am living in crocs as they are so comfy and there is plenty of space for the swelling to increase during the day.

Hi, my lower legs and ankles got swollen really early too, in fact I think it started at about 10 weeks. Just to make you feel good, theyre worse now!!
The upside to swelling in pregnancy is when you have had the baby and the swelling goes these lovely slim looking pins emerge, its great!!

Some relief to hear I'm not the ONLY one experiencing this. If it's just gonna get worse as I progress...I think I'm gonna have to hide out in pants all summer, especially around my dear mother who loves to comment on the size of my legs It's a small complaint for a bouncy, healthy baby at the end of it all!

I started getting swollen feet and ankles around 19 weeks, I feel for you -it sucks. My doc says there's nothing to worry about unless its only swelling in 1 leg and is accompanied by numbess, tingling or pain.

The reduce the swelling, sit with your feet above your heart. When I do that I can literally feel them draining! Get your OH to give u a nice foot rub too, that will help and it always feels nice!

My doc says there's no danger at all, just a nuisance.

They actually got a bit better today-but i've been chugging water and keeping my feet elevated as much as possible. Hopefully the swelling will be kept at bay...cross my fingers...

So funny. I was going to post the same thing.
I feel like a cow. I have cankles(actually only one, but the other one is a bit caught up at the moment), and they look so dumb. I have been triyng to keep my feet up, but man, it just looks bad. Probably more to me than anyone else, since I typically have thin ankles.
Yeah, I see them go down when I keep them raised, but I am scared for what a hot summer and another 20 weeks will bring!
No offense, girls, but I am glad it isn't just me!

Yea, more "early" cankle sufferers that can relate! Don't you love looking at those pics of pregnant celebrities wearing mini dresses with their lovely looking ankles and legs...wonder how long they kept their lower body elevated for that
