Round here they recommend you book as far in advance as poss, otherwise you may not get on the course, but you don't actually attend until about 2 months or less before due date, otherwise you'll forget half of what you've learned.

Try the NCT website hun (sorry don't have the address on me but if you google it you'll get it) - you can search for courses in your area. I'd advise phoning rather than emailing though as their email system seems to be unreliable!

i didnt even know that there were classes other than the NHS ones my nhs classes don't even require pre booking, i just turn up! (i'm at trafford general hospital in manchester if anyone else is!)

we have a set of longer classes during the day for 6 weeks (starting june 6th) and then another set that are during the evenings for four weeks (starting June 23rd)

but i've never heard of the NCT ones, how do i go about getting into these classes and does any one know how expensive they are? xx

Most antenatal classes consist of about 7 or 8 weekly sessions, so you want to aim to complete the course before your due date. However, you should book yourself on a course soon as sometimes spaces can be limited and the fill up quite quickly.

We are doing the NCT intensive small group weekend so get everything done in one go, rather than rushing to get to NHS classes after work for a few weeks. Then a girls only evening breast feeding class.
Main reason as mentioned above by a few ladies, is that we will get to meet Mums and Dads from our local area so more likely to meet up afterwards. I know the South Manchester NCT do a re-union a few weeks after the birth so really encourage people to keep in touch and support each other.
I guess cost is a factor in deciding but my friends say it's money well spent
