Feeling fat

Hiya,

This may sound odd and a little irrational. But the past couple of days I have just felt huge. I still look at my bump and sooth Bubba, enjoying the swelling belly. But as soon as I get ready to go anywhere I feel fat. I am showing but people don't knotice I am pregnant. My boobs are massive, they were a G cup when I started and have caused me worry about how big they will actually get once the milk comes in. I feel as though due to the size of them I just look extremely overweight.
It doesn't help that all the mags and books have trim little woman with neat bellies and pert boobs. Where my belly hangs over my underwear
and some people have been telling me to be careful what I eat "cos you'll never lose the weight after the baby comes."
My appitite has increased for the first time since becoming pregnant and I feel really bad about it.
I want to enjoy being pregnant, not worry about weight.

Hi Newt, I think a lot of women worry about weight gain during pregnancy. But at the same time we have to realise that gaining weight is necessary because lil one needs all of the extra energy from that weight not only during pregnancy but after too if you plan on breast feeding.

In all honesty those women in the magazines are just magazine models just like in any other magazine and they soooooooo do not represent what the majority of pregnant women look like during pregnancy, just as other magazines/models don't represent the majority of women! So don't compare yourself to them hunny!!

There are plenty of us on here willing to share our weight gain and stretch mark stories with you. If you are very concerned about your weight, try talking to your doctor and they can advise you if you really need to be concerned

In the meantime check out this old thread I posted some time back:

Don't get down on yourself hon. Like Mango said, its totally necessary to put on weight and no matter how big your bump is or boobs for that matter your still beautiful. Your going to be a mommy, how couldn't you be? As for people telling you that you can't lose the weight later is a crock. I gained 40lbs with my son and I was overweight to begin with and I still lost it all, it just takes a bit of work. Hang in there hon

I have gained weight with both my pregnancies, but I have 2 lovely kiddies to show for it, and I just have to work at shifting the weight now. You can do it, and if you are not silly, you wont have stones and stones to lose (unlike me ). You enjoy your pregnancy and sod everyone else and their opinions! x

Seriously hun don't worry about it, I'm not the skinniest girl and people still don't look at me and think oh she is pregnant, they think that I'm just getting bigger and bigger. But just think when the baby is born it doesn't matter what you look like because you will have a beautiful baby that will love you no matter what you look like. For me as soon as the baby is born I will start again doing my hard work in the gym instead of taking it easy and to be honest it will make me more determind to lose it

Ohh dont worry about it hun. I myself have been a bit worried about it. I haven't done too bad so far tho. But lately my appetite has come back but double, and I have been eating quite a bit. But I just try to eat healthy foods. I keep my fridge stocked with yogurts, cheese sticks, salad stuff, and eat stuff like that for snacks. Not always, but I'm trying to be good. I was really worried when I first started showing but my DH just assured me that it is for the baby. Try to enjoy your pregnancy, and not worry about this, cause you can def lose the lbs after you have your beautiful, healthy baby!

I know how you feel hun... Ive never had to struggle with my weight before now. I used to be able to eat pretty much what I wanted and I would go to the gym like 4-5 times a week and I was a size 10 and loved it. The past week Ive just felt frumpy and horrible, even though I havent put on that much weight. Its a really hard thing for me to come to terms with. So I guess were in the same boat.

Im just trying to eat as healthily as possible and do excersize because apparently its easier to go back once the baby is born.

Hope you start feeling better soon hun.

xxx

I have gained alot of weight and dont even feel pretty anymore.. like my BF isn't even turned on by me anymore.. but I still eat whatever and stuff my face like a cow whenever I dont feel good or am bored. I gained 15 pounds between my 20wk and 24wk doc appointments!! Everyone can tell I am preggy though.
Anyways, dont get yourself down. Everyone keeps telling me that afterwards, when I am holding my little boy that I wont even think about the weight or anything else. That I will be so overwelmed and preoccupied with him that I wont have time to think about it..
Good luck!

Try and ignore peoples insensitive comments. Eat as much as you need too, if you're hungry its probably a good sign that your baby needs nutrients to grow :-)

My sister was VERY big through both pregnancies to the point that she was constantly asked if she was having triplets! She's not overweight, just a normal size and a medium to big build.

Try and enjoy your pregnancy and think of having your baby in your arms one day soon. You can go for walks, hit the gym etc once bubba is born to lose the extra baby weight.

But for now, if anyone says anything tell them its none of their business because its not!

I'm sure you will really show you're PG very soon, it might just be an awkward stage.

Thank you girls I feel a bit better about it and a lot less guilty about eating. I come to realise that I am not eating big meals, cos of heartburn so I'm eating little and often, this makes me feel like I am eating constantly. I just have to stop beating myself up about it.
Bubbas daddy says I am showing, he said I look I'm smuggling an egg. I'm still being told about the weight thing, but I just shrug it off and tell myself that with breastfeeding and time the weight should go.
We bought our buggy and car seat yesterday and it's reminded me of how excited I am.
Thanks again, you all helps and made me realise that I am not alone in feeling down some times
