Looking for a bit of advice.

I was at the midwife/diabetic clinic today and well i'm worrying now. My blood pressure has always been perfect, through my first pregnancy and my life I have never had a problem. Today that midwife took it and it was 160/100. She then tested my urine and told me there was protein, glucose (i expected that) and large nitrates.

Then she asked me a few questions, she asked if I was getting headaches,I told her yes I had a really bad one yesterday and had to lay down in a dark room for a bit, my vision is also blurring for a few seconds every now and again.

They took bloods from me and said they would call me if there was anything to be concerned about and after a bp profile I was told to go to doctors next week and get my bp checked again.

I'm trying not to worry but I can't help it, I'm paranoid they will whip me into hospital now even to the point where I am sorting a bag out just incase.

My mother said the nitrates are a sign of infection and I was wondering if anyone else has had this?? I don't feel like I have a uti, I'm peeing alot but then that's normal in pregnancy lol.

Thank you for reading xox

yep, protein and nitrites can mean a urine infection and sometimes in pregnancy an infection can go without the usual symptoms of cystitis. I guess they were thinking about pre eclampsia, but they wouldn't have sent you away if they thought it was anything serious.
Hopefully your BP will be fine when you have it re-checked
take care

I have no idea what nitrates are, but as MrsRh says, if it was anything to worry that much about, they'd have sent you up to a ward to be assessed. I wouldnt worry too much about your blood pressure chick, you did have a stressful day yesterday, and that could have caused it to rise.... this is even more reason to get your OH helping out much much much more!
I hope you feel better soon xxx

It never occured to me that yesterday could have had something to do with. I'm just hoping its a uti and the high bp was a once off xox
