Reduced fetal movements?

I have a chest infection currently and am on antibiotics. Now the baby is normally very active and I have 3 or 4 periods a day where he/she is kicking me lots. I have been coughing loads but I have noticed that I havnt felt any movements really for a few days. Felt proper movements last on thursday. Felt 1 tiny kick on Friday which I'm not even convinced was a kick. And 1 yesterday which again I'm not convinced was baby. Not felt anything today either. Starting to get quite worried now cos I've had flutters since 13 weeks and proper kicks since 16 weeks. Any advice?

Hiya hun i've just been on antibios for the same reason. Now although i'm earlier than you i always thought that at 17 wks the baby wasn't big or strong enough to do full blown kicks & that you would feel something but not a full blown whack. Maybe when your coughing or something its happening then & you just wont feel it. I would say at 17wks its ok to not feel something every hour, but if you are at all worried then i would defo ring either nhs direct or the mw xx

Hi, im no expert and this is my first pregnancy but I have red on the internet that you should only start monitoring your fetal movements from 25 weeks

What If I Don't Feel My Baby Moving?
If you haven't yet reached 25 weeks and don't feel your baby move, or you're not sure that what you're feeling is actually your baby, don't panic. As your baby grows, you'll be able to better distinguish his or her movements. You'll also figure out at what times of the day your baby is most active. Some babies just naturally move less often than others.

I had a quiet week in week 17/18 and posted cos I was worried. I had also been feeling flutters since about week 15. However, back to being booted regularly now.

Perhaps it's due to baby moving position in there. I can now distinguish the direction of the kick and kicks back and down and much softer than kicks up and out (does that make sense).

Hiya Zoe hun, I would of thought you would of felt something by now BUT it might not be a proper kick more a flutter or slight tap. Try drinking some fizzy pop & then lieing down still with the tv off , put your hands on your belly & just relax for 5 or 10 mins. You might feel little pops, bubbles or like you have butterflies. Sometimes with day to day activities you dont notice the movements as they are not strong but your busy doing other things.

I'v heard the same as 'Pregnancy NO.1' because their is not yet reduced movement in the uterous, the baby is still floating around so some kicks and bumps may not be noticed! But as littlekitten 8 says, its better to check with midwife! xxxx Good luck hun xxx

That's great! Your LO must have realised s/he was worrying you, so gave you a reassuring kick! Sometimes babies turn and face the other way early on, as they have lots of room to move still, and if your placenta is posteria, this cushions the feelings, so you're not likely to feel the kicks. Similarly, if your placenta is anterior, it can take longer to feel initial kicks.

if you are worried every again do what DIZZY MOO said or try lying on your left side the movements should start again (as per books most midwives etc) unless you got an awkward bugger like mine who works in opposites. I have to lie on my right to get him to move which my midwife thinks is quite funny although some babies are like this lol!!

Try not to stress too as they can sense this. The more you relax the more he/she will be active sounds daft but I find that last thing at night or first thing in the morning when i wake jr is most active whilst im still in relaxed mode!!! Once the kickes become stronger and bigger and more frequent some days I have to walk around to lul him to sleep as he is attacking my ribs and kidneys and they hurt lol!!!

dont know how much of this helps but i have just drank some coke and feel like im pissed lol (must be the caffine!!) Hope you feel better and if you fancy a chat IM me!!!xxx
