Single parent entitlements

I know that I'll get the HIP grant that everyone gets and the weekly 'family allowance', but are there any additional financial entitlements that I will get as a single parent? I will be going back to work full time but won't need childcare money as my family will be looking after the baby when I'm at work.

-x-

Best thing to do hun is to pop along to your local CAB. They will be able to go through your details (income, exp etc) and then tell you what you can claim

You will get both working tax and child tax credit as long as you work more than 16hrs, you also get a bit extra for wtc for being a single parent, its only a few quid though.

if you live in the UK every pregnant lady will get a one off 190 quid payment, no matter if your single or married (pop into your job center and ask for the form) you will be entitled to food vouchers if you earn under a certain amount and also a maternity grant up to 500 quid again depending what you are entitled too. again get a form from your job center. when i was a single mother i got child tax credit and working tax credit and also child care allowance along with family allowance.

you will get the sure start grant of £500. as others have said working and child tax credits. IF you have your own place you will get housing benefit and counciltax (may not be all paid but you will get some.

AND you maybe entitled to income support - but this will only be if you are working under 16hrs per week.

so you get more money from tax credits IF you work over 16hrs OR income support for under 16hrs. either way you will get free prescriptions and such.
