2nd Tri whoop whoop!! Q - Uncomfortable Sleeping

Hi all,

Just realised Im in the 2nd Tri !! Wowsa it's gone fast !!

Anyway Im really finding it hard to get a good nights sleep, Im up and down going to the toilet 2 or 3 times a night and I just cant get comfortable in bed, I like to sleep on my side but I start going on my front and I get worried that I'll hurt the baby which kinda wakes me up..

So really my question is, can sleeping on your side/front harm the baby in any way.. It probably a stupid question, but I like to be sure !!

Thanks for any help in advance !!

i slept on my front sometimes i found it comfortable, i even find myself doing it a little now lol you will be in pain if its hurting your baby - at least thats what i think. I find it so uncomfotable getting to sleep at night sleeping on my sides hurt me .... and i heard your not really meant to sleep on your back after 4 months ....... i just need some comfy pillows to put all round me i think

Oooh not meant to sleep on your back, really, I didn't know that.. I should try putting some pillows around me to help me get comfortable, sounds like a good idea..

Hi Louisa, sleeping can definitely be a challenge! Try laying on your side then wedging a pillow in back of you, kind of like a lever so that you can fall back a bit and feel comfortable...ok I hope that makes sense, I find it works for me.

Welcome to the 2nd tri!
Yup what Mango said, and try putting a pillow between your knees that really helps me out.

Welcome to the 2nd Tri!

I have this pillow called "The Big V Maternity Pillow" that I got off target.com and it helps me sleep so much better! I use it to put between my legs and it supports my belly or I put it behind me so that if I want to lay on my back then I am propped up, its kinda like a big boppy. Just something I found that helped me because I was having a really hard time sleeping too.

Thank everyone, yeah tonight I'll give the pillow idea a go and see if that helps.. Thanks for the tips girls !!

Also I dont know if Im imagining this or not but Im pretty sure during the night I am feeling some slight fluttering, its only late during the night that I feel it, and Im usually half asleep when I do.

I also thought I felt the heartbeat when I had my hand on the side of my stomach, dunno though, it might have been a dream !! lol

I've heard that babies most active times are during the night. So those flutters were probably the baby. And I agree with all the girls. A pillow between your knees will help a lot. I have to sleep like that or I wake up with sore hips and sides. When you sleep on your side, your legs are not even, so your hips are not even. Putting a pillow between, helps to level your hips, and prevent the pain. It's difficult to get used to sleeping like that. I still toss and turn during the night, think it drives my dh crazy.. lol oh well!
