| Spots of blood at 11 weeks - advice needed! Hello ladies,
I'm jumping over from 1st tri with a question for those further on. I'm 11+1 weeks and this afternoon after going to the toilet i noticed 2 very small spots of bright red blood on the toilet tissue. I went into panic mode and phoned mw, who said not to worry as can be normal and to put a pad on and if i get any more or any cramping to call back. Well, i haven't had any more blood, but i've had low down mild cramps for a couple of hours now (since it happened really). I had my scan on Monday at 10+2 and all was well with baby, so our next scan isn't until 20 weeks!!.. To make matters worse, i have just rented a hi bebe doppler, and have tried twice to find hb, but can't. I don't want to use to too often incase everything is ok with the baby and i end up hurting it from overuse of the doppler.
Can anyone relate to this, or give me any advice? It would be much appreciated. | | | | Status: Offline

| Hi hun, I had cramping and spotting when I was 6 weeks and then again a week after, everything was fine. If it does get worse or the pain suddenly gets a lot worse you need to call the MW again or go to A&E.
Not meaning to pry, but have you had sex recently? This can aggravate the cervix and some people get some spotting afterwards.
Also, I have a doppler and I have only just been able to pick up the baby's HB everytime, I found it really difficult when I first got it at 14 weeks as I have an anterior placenta. Do you know the position of your placenta, if it's at the front then it can muffle the sound. Hope everything works out ok | | | | Status: Offline

| Dont worry about the doppler not picking up the hearbeat yet they dont always at this stage. I had some spots of blood at about 8 weeks and assumed the worst and they turned out to be nothing. Try just to rest and with luck it will just settle down. | | | | Status: Offline

| Hi
I bled pretty much all the way through the first tri...it went a 11 weeks and came back at 13 weeks, but has gone again - it was pretty much a bright ed bleed followed by bown spotting.
It could be -1) cervical erosion, 2) could it now be when you would have been due one?
I have a doppler an started to hear the heartbeat just after 11 weeks (11+ I think)...my tip would be to put the doppler as low on to your pubic bone as posible, directly down from youe belly button and press donw hard...this is where I first found mine...also if you don't find it straight away that tilt is slightly left or right rather than properly moving it elsewhere as you may miss thehb if you move it too much - very very small moves are the key.
Hope this helps a bit and that all works out for you. xx | | | | Status: Online

No sex recently. I had been for a bowel movement (sorry tmi), but i wasn't straining or anything (again, sorry tmi), i just hope my bean is ok. My cramps have gone for now (i've just had a lie down) and no more bleeding. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Thanks for your reply. x | | | | Status: Offline

| Hi hon, firstly are you sure it's blood from the front end? Piles even as early as 11 weeks are common. It happens all the time. Secondly where are you using your doppler? Put it in the centre just above your pubic bone and point it down. At 11 weeks it's very low still, in fact that is still the best place to put it even at 20 weeks. Don't move the doppler around but slowly angle it from side to side working higher as you go. Be systematic with it and start low left working to low right then a bit higher and so on. Mine hide down in the right hand side very close to my own heartbeat. Take time and use gel it really does help I had a big brown bleed at 12 weeks and it was fine but keep an eye on it and if it gets stronger go to the doctor and they will give you another scan date. That's what they did with me. x | | | | Status: Offline

| Hi hun. I had a bleed at 11 weeks, started as bright red blood and then for a week I had brown discharge. It was due to uterine haematoma. It is very common to bleed or spot during 11-13 weeks because the placental blood vessels are forming. You can also have spotting and cramping if you are due on this day as CharlieP mentioned. I first found the HB with doppler when I was 9+1, but then after that I couldn't find it until 11th week. I personally find it easier to find HB when I sit up, as the uterus is pushed down to the pubic bone. But don't worry about not finding the HB. As time goes by, it will become much easier. xx | | | | Status: Offline
