This may be moving away from the subject a bit.. but has anyone noticed that most female sex toys (ahem!) are often circumcised! I've always wondered why this is.. what's wrong with a little turtle neck! ;-)

so true, i think it's something to do with the look of them, and the fact that they're easier to clean after

ummm, surely it depends on whether or not they have unprotected sex and the person they're sleeping with has an STD?? not that they have less of a chance because they've been circumcised

i think a lot of it is to do with culture, i've only been with one bloke who's been circumcised and found it weird, whereas i remember on Sex and the City once (i know, very cultural and so easy to reference! lol) they were saying that non-circumcised men were strange!

if my little wriggle worm has a wriggly worm then it'll be keeping it's foreskin, but i don't see why it should be taken off, i understand that it's part of the Jewish faith and the American culture, but i'm neither Jewish or American
Great points.
Protected sex should always be the goal, circumcised or not.

Secondly, the truth is that there are Americans on this forum.
Americans have typically heard most of their lives that not being circumcised is not "normal", it is dirty, it is "gross", it's unattractive, it causes men to be teased, it causes women to be disgusted, the list goes on.
This is a cultural thing, and while I understand why people are very against it, as they think it is cruel, unnecessary, is torture, barbaric, (the list goes on), there is very little chance of swaying anyone's opinion on this without a profound medical study advising for or against it at all costs.

To your point, it is just a cultural difference.
Very much like if one were raised with full faith in a certain religion, there would be very little chance of swaying them into another religion through argument.
It is a personal choice, but it is very culturally influenced.
I am not saying one way is right or wrong.
That's just how it goes.

Bul...l I researched and I decided to do it even if it is not medically necessary. There are little benefits by doing it. But doctors agree that these benefits alone are not significant reasons to have circumcision.
UTI are uncommon but happen less often in circumcised boys and circumcised males are a little less likely to get an STD. And those benefits are good enough for me...I would only agree to it if local anesthetics are used...since many docs dont use it...
I gave a bubble bath to my nephew which gave him a UTI and he had a painful and bloody penis for 2 days he was not circumcised...so if this one is a boy he will def get circumcised.
I think as parents we all make different choices and have different ways of things, so to each of you I tip my hat in respect. My OH and I have decided to have our child if it's a boy, circumcised. It's our preference as we feel it's the right thing to do for our child. Just the way we plan to do it, not that there's anything wrong with not doing it- I just would prefer to have it done when he's little and he won't remember the healing. No guy that I know that has been circumcised as a baby remembered it, but were happy with the results... so I feel comfort in that.

I think most of them are probably made in China...maybe in China circumcision is very common?

Bet it would be a real PITA to clean "toy" foreskin! Yikes!

Honestly, feel free to have a laugh at my expense...I had to google to see what an uncircumcised thingy looked like!
Never seen one before!

Totally a cultural thing.

My little brother had to get it done at 18 months due to his foreskin being too tight. He suffered for almost a year before doctors finally agreed that it had been causing him pain, even after numerous nights in hospital where the nursing staff agreed that he was screaming when he tried to urinate (urine was escaping a few drips at a time).

Had he been done as a baby he would have been spared all that pain.

All the same neither of my boys are circumcised. Although I maybe should have got DS1 done and avoided the incident a few nights ago where he learned that if he tried to stick a toy up there it would hurt, a lot, and bleed too....

hmmmmmm,
well each to their own but i personally wouldn't do it to my son unless he needed it for medical reasons. An ex-boyfriend of mine had it done when he was a baby as his foreskin was too tight and was very painful so it was necesarry for him, but I dont agree with it for religous reasons or cosmetic reasons, but that is just my opinion!
Also is doe not seem to be as popular in this country as it is in the US.

It's very popular in Canada too. I've heard this argument from a guys point of view and the guys who are circumcised say it's cleaner and most girls prefer it. The guys who aren't circumcised tend to agree it's more pleasurable because their sensitive part is more protected all the time and doesn't lose sensitivity as much as one who is.

If I have a boy, I won't be getting him circumcised. As long as he's taught to clean himself properly, there shouldn't be an issue about cleanliness.
