I was really dreading today's appointment, as the last time I was at the ante-natal clinic they went on and on and on about my high bmi and the risky labour I'm going to have......

Well, I've just spent 2 hours laughing! Not only did my Consultant totally have my sense of (inappropriate) humour, but she was really lovely.
My blood pressure is still perfect, I've lost 9lbs in total since I got my (and I haven't even tried!), all my blood work from 12 weeks is spot on, I had no urine problems and she's referred me for accupuncture for my persisting morning sickness.
She did find protein in my sample today, but she's just said I need a glucose tolerance test at 28 weeks, so that's fine.
AND she found my naughty baby's heartbeat. Took her 15 mins, but she found it and then within seconds, baby moved somewhere, but I was just so chuffed to hear it.
I did end up having the double test in the end, which I wasn't sure about having, but she was having to take some blood for a random glucose test or something, so I thought she might as well take blood for the tests whilst she was there.

She explained things to me so much better than the midwife did last time. She admitted I will have to give birth in the obstetricts unit rather than midwife led unit, but said a Doc will only appear if really needed and I can labour with just my hubby and midwife if I chose. I also don't HAVE to have a c-sec as was previously told, and she even said it's safer we deliver naturally anyway. And I can just use gas and air and not have to have an epidural as previously told either.

So I am mega happy and feel so much more relaxed now. I also actually feel pregnant now. Which sounds weird, I know, but up till now I've always had this irrational fear that someone was going to tell me they'd made a mistake and I wasn't really pregnant, or that inexplicably, something would happen and I'd lose it. But I am going to relax now, and wait to feel those first movements, I cant wait!
