Getting things for the baby

Hi girls

I have been lurking around here for a good while but not really posting. However, I wonder if you can give me some advice?

I am now 25 weeks and 3 days with our second child. Our son was born sleeping at 23 weeks in January 2008 due to a cord accident. We have really not started thinking about things for the baby yet as, to be quite honest, we never believed that I would get this far in pregnancy. However, I'm here and we are trying to move on postively.

Some friends asked at the weekend what we had bought to which we answered 'nothing'. This is not quite true as we had bought a pram and cot for our son which were never used and we do want to use these this time.

Everyone was horrified and started having a go at us about the need to get organised as I am high risk and I won't go to term with this pregnancy. They all insisted it would take 'AGES' for anything we ordered to arrive etc.

So, are they right? Do we have to get a move on or is there time? We both want to start thinking about it but are both so scared about actually looking and buying things for the baby. At the most, I will have another 13 weeks before I am induced.

I would say whenever you feel its time, then its time. Do not worry about what others say. If you feel now is a good time, then you could start, if you want to wait, wait it out hon

Do it when you're ready! If you've already got the cot and pram, I think those are the main things that might take time to arrive. The rest can be done fairly quickly I'm sure. It was a long time ago but my grandma told me how her friend thought she was going through the menopause... until she went into labour. She didn't even consider that she might be pregnant. By the time she came home from hospital two days later, her two best friends had got her everything she needed... shows how quickly it can be done! You can always send out your partner once baby's born for anything you've forgotten.

Thanks Everyone

My Dad has said that if need be he would happily 'pull an all nighter' and get things set up for us after the baby is born and I am still in hospital.

We are going away for a few days to Newcastle next week and I think I might try to persuade Andy to come and start to look then. It might be easier to be away from the maternity shops at home? How stupid does that sound but it might be.

i like the idea of getting a bit every week though.
