| Who's been i'll and had time off work....? As the title says really.
I felt poorly a couple of weeks ago so the Dr. signed me off work for a week (low blood pressure) - which i felt really guilty about.
When i got back to work the HR manager sat me down and we completed the foundation report of my risk assessment, which was then sent to my line manager and managing director to look through. They assessed the dangers in my roll and from the companies point of view there where quite a few. So, they have stopped me doing a lot of the practical side of my job and given me more office based work to do (still in my department).
This week i came down with a cold and today i feel too bad to go into work. So i phoned in sick. Again i feel really guilty but then, on the other hand, i feel that if they have stopped me doing a great deal of my practical work because they want me to take it steady, then surely they would not want me in work if i feel i'll and have had a crap nights sleep......
I just feel bad because i had a week off work just the other week and now i've taken another day off.
Who else has had time off work.. did you fell bad .... how did your employer make you feel about it...? | | | | Status: Offline

| Hi,
I go back to work tomorrow after 8 weeks off. I had bleeding and cramoing at the start of the pregnancy and so was signed off for a month with a threatened miscarriage. I was told to take things easy and not do much other than rest. When the 4 weeks was up I was a wreck, just with the stress and worry so the doc signed me off for another 4 weeks.
I called my boss after my 1st visit to the GP and she told me to call Occy Health and they have been fab! The woman has kept in touch and has now put together a plan for a phased return. I basically work from home 2 days, have a day off and then see customers 2 days. It's the customer but I am worried about because that involves up to 8 hours driving a day then work in the middle. I'm just going to have to see how it goes.
Occy Health advised me to try and take my mat leave asap which I want to do anyway so I only have 8 weeks to go!
My boss was fine but she is calling me in the morning and I am to meet her on Monday. She told Occy Health it would be at a half way point but where she has chosen is an 8 hour round trip for me! Occy Health negotiated that I can use the train if I want to that's what i'll be doing. | | | | Status: Offline

| I've had a few sick days. Early in pregnancy had to be admitted to hospital, then later on it was back/hip problems. I also had a day off because I had a horrendous night with no sleep, which i felt bad for but it wouldnt be good for me or baby to do a 12 hour shift on no sleep!!
Work have been good, think it helps that my manager has a 3yr old so she can remember what its like. Still I got myself worried whenever i had to call in sick. But remember, there are other people who can do your job but only you can grow your baby- so thats far more important!! and remember tht preg related sickness cannot be held against you as far as disciplinaries or anyhting xx | | | | Status: Online

| I'v had time off but not like 2 days n a row with my sickness, it was a a day here a day there etc, well i got called into my managers office with HR manager standing there as well, and they had to address my sickness, they take into account my pregnancy but it is quite alot for last 3 months, all down to pregnancy its 5 days they are worried because i've taken 5 days off in all over 3 months, its a joke, so i said i wanna no if this will be address because there is another girl whos just come out shes pregnant shes the favourite in our office with the managers if she starts going off sick, but they couldnt comment on someone else!!!
So i came into work other week was really feeling quite ill and i throw up in my bin and my manager said i should go home so i said oh god no, i wouldnt want to class another sick day, but she said its different if they send me home!!
What is the difference in all!!! Gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! | | | | Status: Offline

| I wasnt working but i was at college and after 7 days off they require sick notes from your doctor, i havent been since middle of december, because of a couple of problems and they have been brilliant, i have to see doctor every 2-3 weeks and he just been giving me my sicknotes then. I was doing hairdressing so they been sending the written work home for me to do and when i go back i just have to catch up on the practical side of things. | | | | Status: Offline

| I'm half way through 2 weeks sick leave for stress. I was sleeping 5 hours a night for 3-4 weeks, waking up and crying from lack of sleep and the thought of having to commute/work long days. Trying to organise a wedding on my own as well for two months time and only half of things are booked so far.
I also have had about 5-6 days off here and there also with lack of sleep/headaches and other bad pregnancy sickness days.
I try not to worry in terms of the baby is more important than pushing myself onwards (as I know the more stressed and ill I get, the less I eat). More concerned I haven't been in the job very long and that it will look like I take sick time too easily.
HR/manager seem to be supportive, will find out for sure when I'm back next week. | | | | Status: Offline
