Ok so seen alot of people write these and finally plucked up the courage to write one....

TBH i wasnt really trying for a baby at this moment in time although we werent taking precautions - and hadn't been for over a year. Timing was impecable! It was the week after I had handed in my Masters Dissertation when I realised I was 4 days late, thinking nothing of it really cos my cycles did vary a little from month to month by a few days I went and got a test anyway from the Co-op.

OH was at work and didn't know I was doing it, so I did it ..... looked down and straight away there was the result - no need to wait (got a test where u need 1 line in the other window)!! First thoughts were s**t! then Oh My God. I waited all day for him to come home to tell him face to face. I didn't get the reaction I was hoping for - he cried for ages, in the end I had to get his mum round



See we have a 3 way mortgage with our mate david and he is leaving august to live in London which means we have to now take on his share of the mortgage / bills etc and OH got all worried that we would loose everything cos of this. I wont even go into the MIL's reaction (cow!)

Anyway to stop me from boring you hes finally coming round and seeing its not the end of the world and we can manage - we will have to manage, even if its on second hand and handouts!

Week 5

Went to docs, made them read the test and confirm! She gave me info on what to do and when to contact midwife. Spent most of week panicking about what Id been eating, doing and more importantly drinking the last couple of weeks lol!!

Week 6

My graduation this week, mum, granddad and OH mum knows, but no-one else. Didn't feel right the whole day which kinda upset me but thats part of being preggers! Very sore boobs, nausea and extreme tiredness.

Week 7

Again sore boobs , Nausea and tiredness - OH commented on my boobs saying 'my god what are u feeding them?!'

Srry about your MIL's reaction most of them are just inconsiderate beings from another planet! I look forward to reading your pregnancy journal, I'm 38w + 1d today so hopefully if you read mine it'll consist of more than just me soon.

Week 8

OK Nausea and Morning Sickness really kicking in now for me. Been looking round the sales at all the baby clothes etc, however I'll be getting mine in the Boxing Day sales lol! CM, Tiredness and mood swings all seem to be increasing not decreasing.

MIL still being pain in the posterior!! one minute its 'Ive got a moses basket you can have' and in the same sentence ' u may have a miscarriage yet tho!' .... cow!

Booked first Midwife appointment - 1st August 2008 @ 2pm (home visit)

Weeks 9 & 10

Had midwife visit, she thinks I might be further on than I think cos my cycle used to only be 25 days long rather than 28 but the scan will be able to say. Got my notes which I had to promise her I have to have on me at all times - so a new handbag is in order!!!!

Got my Bounty pack for mums to be plus the folder that the MW gave me to look at all the CD's , leaflets, junk and booklets!!! Plus a tiny tiny nappy!! arrhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

Date for my first scan has come back on the 18th August so I will be in my 12th week then. Its really tough now trying not to tell everyone, I might just give in on Week 11, trying not too.

Symptoms include tiredness, sore nipples, nausea, mood swings and itchiness (not sure if its a symptom but I have it everywhere, and I don't have problem skin!!)

Sorry you ar ehvaing such a tough time with you MIL, sometimes they can such cows!! Hopefully when it starts to set in for her that you are carrying her grandchild she will come around and start treating you better.

As for the money situation, as so many older woman who have had and raised their kids say, there is never a good time to have kids. They will always be expensive no matter how much or how little you have. You will be fine.

Week 11

Wow its come round really quick, I thought I'd never see to the end of 11 weeks and starting week 12 - a milestone!!! Got my 1st scan on Monday, then hopefully fingers crossed everything is ok and I can tell the rest of friends, family and work colleagues. Been really hard not telling people although I'm guessing people are starting to think somethings a-miss lol!!

Scared stiff there gonna tell me theres nothing there or worse.... OH tells me not to be stupid cos I'm getting fatter!! ...men!

Anyway heres a pic of my water retention/baby!!!! (I used to be the proud owner of a flat stomach...no more!)

Weeks 12 - 13

Well scan date came ...... and the results as you can see below are lovely - if i do say so myself lol!! I am also now due 20th February and not 1st March so my 'weeks' have been out all along! Doh!

Next scan date is 10th October, some of the ladies have looked at the Nub and said its a ikle girl - doesn't bother me which as long as the little gem is healthy

Been suffering this week with a bloody cold - cant even take a lemsip and ive got a funeral to go to on Thursday in Devon (i live in the midlands) as OH grandad died last week - so ill be there sniffing away :s

MIL is now more susceptible now shes seen the scan piccy's - hopefully it will last lol. Told everyone now and then announced it on Facebook to all the masses!!
