Lillysmum's Pregnant Journey

So my Pregnancy journey begins....even though the line is rather faint on that test, a minute later (the recommended time to read the test) the line was pretty much unmistakable.

It's my second time on this rollercoaster ride, something which (if you had asked me about during and after labour - was certainly never going to happen again). My oh my how things change. It's only been 11 months since Lilly was born but we can't wait to add to our family

We have been trying for baby number 2 since February 2008 so our TTC journey is a short one but none less bumpy. Filled with highs and lows, missing AF and until at last we got our I still feel like I'm in a dream and that when I wake up it won't be real. It's scary to feel like this as it is my second time, you would think I would be a little bit more chilled out about it. I think I'll feel much better once we go for the first U/S.

We are going to wait till I am 4 months pregnant before telling anyone, firstly because i want Lilly's birthday to be all about her and nothing overshadowing it. I also don't want to announce it all too soon so think 4 months is the right time and the OH agrees.

Till then heres some piccy's of my gorgeous little girl, who's going to be so happy to be a big sis

I will keep this journal updated and try and keep up with everyone elses

Doctors

I went to the doctors today to get the pregnancy confirmed and start the process officially, up til now I have been on unable to function normally or even accept the fact that I am indeed pregnant. The doctor was really nice and told me that she was happy with my 2 positive tests and has sent a refferal to the midwife so I can get my booking appointment and Scan sorted out - I hope I hear back about that soon!!

She asked me all about my previous pregnancy and any complications, one which was my high blood pressure towards the end which the doctor termed borderline pre-eclampsia. She took my blood pressure as a base line and said congratulations.

My due date at the moment is 16th March 2009, I can't wait for my 12 week scan so I can see Jellybean, the name I have decided I will call the baby until it's born as we have decided not to find out the sex.

Ahhh The Joys Of Morning Sickness

I forgot how much i hate staring at the bottom of my toilet bowl!!! This morning we were up early to pick up Lilly from her gran and grandads, where she was staying for the night so mum and dad could go out for a friends birthday night out, and I felt really nauceous!!

I managed to make it to gran and grandads - the fresh air really helped me. But as soon as I got in their house that was it - I was very sick So as gran and grandad don't know they are expecting a new grandchild I think they assumed I was the one drinking last night and was a bit delicate afterwards.

Hehehe, so so much fun!! It's kicked in early this time, about 3 weeks early to be exact!! Was vainly hoping I could avoid this for at least another week.

So I decided that there has to be a silver lining to the dark cloud of morning sickness! I looked into why morning sickness happens, well here goes some of the explanations:

As many as nine out of 10 mums-to-be experience nausea, with or without vomiting. Nausea in pregnancy is actually a good sign because it shows that pregnancy hormone levels are high enough to allow your pregnancy to "take hold", and for your baby to develop and grow normally.

The main cause of pregnancy nausea is thought to be the hormone human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG), which is produced in large quantities until your placenta takes over the functions of maintaining and nourishing the pregnancy. It is for this reason that pregnant mothers are often told that sickness will resolve at around 12 to 14 weeks.

I thought I would also include some tips on preventing morning sickness

Try not to become overtired, reduce stress as much as you can

Get as much rest as possible and if necessary, take time off work. Eat little and often, and try to work out which foods suit you and which may make your symptoms worse.

don't worry about eating a balanced diet at this stage. It's better to eat something and obtain some energy from your food than not to eat at all. Most importantly, keep well hydrated, sipping iced water, lemon juice, barley water or whatever you can manage.

*Info on morning sickness is taken from http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnanc...medies/nausea/

So I am feeling better today, was feeling a bit nauceous this morning but had a glass of juice and that seemed to help a lot. I don't mind being sick as long as its a healthy baby at the end of it all. Hopefully the sickness will subside around 12-14 weeks

What a gorgeous little girl you have! We waited til 3 months (this weekend) to tell everyone and people had just started suspecting something!

Hope your pregnancy goes really well and you hear from your midwife soon x

Looking forwards to reading about your journey.

Week 6

So we are now in week 6 and so far my morning sickness hasn't been too bad, I am fully aware and ready for it to get worse, what I'm not ready for is for it to not happen at all!!!

Honestly can't wait to get my booking appointment and my 12 week scan, only 6 weeks until that!!! The 12 week scan always makes me a bit nervous but mainly excited.

Saw a thread on here a couple days ago about using chinese calendar charts to predict the sex of your baby and decided to try it.

All you do is use your age at conception and the month the baby was concieved in to find out whether it will be a male or female....

Seeing as we're not going to find out the sex of the baby I decided to try it and it has predicted we are having another girl, which contradicts my OH who is convinced it's a boy, and he was also convinced I was pregnant before I got my positive test.

http://www.baby-parenting.co.uk/baby/predictor.html

I have also done it for Lilly , and it was correct. For my friend's baby she is currently pregnant with, according to what she was told at the scan - its wrong.

My boobs are soo sore at the moment and very heavy feeling Jelly bean seems to be making lots of room as my tummy is expanding already, might not be able to keep this secret under wraps for too long.

It says I'm going to have a girl too.

My morning sickness didn't get any worse, it's just stayed pretty much the same and not gone away yet (only had nausea, haven't thrown up once).

I found time passed lots quicker once I'd got my midwife appointment. Hope it goes quickly for you and you enjoy it!

x

Week 10

My word, we are in week 10 already!! I haven't been able to update this journal since week 6 because of computer issues but there's not really much to say.

I have got my scan date through... it's on Monday 25th August at 3pm and my booking appointment is on the 2nd of September. I am incredibly anxious about my scan as I seem to have convinced myself that this is too good to be true and it's all a dream so these last few weeks have dragged by .

We told our parents on wednesday, we said we wouldn't but I think we both knew that it would be something we would share with them if things went wrong too so we decided to tell them. It was also stressing me out how they would react to the news of a new baby seeing as Lilly has just turned 1 but they both sounded very happy about it which was great.

I have had discharge today which looked pretty minging and mucousey so I spoke to the NHS 24 and they reassured me that it was nothing to worry about and was just discharge rather than anything bad. The nurse said to call if anything changed though.

So I have been ordered to rest and drink plenty of fluids.
