I'm Currently Feeling: | Boo's Story so far... 6th December 2007
Well after 19 months of trying, I had just about given up on TTC. I didn't want to see a fertility specialist due to the fact I was only 19 when I started. But in the end, waiting for AF every month, thinking every month "Have I cracked it?"
I'd been in hospital from the 12th until the 27th so I thought I'd had no chance on concieving that month and the fact that I had vigerous treatments to try and save my sight from a progressive inflammatory eye condition.
But as per usual, today was the day AF was due. Aches and sore boobs ruined my hope of a BFP. I tested none the less to get over excited because I was sure I seen a faint positive. My partner damperned this and said no.
7th December 2007
I convinced my partner to buy me a couple of cheapies. They both came up with negatives. So I'd resigned myself to the fact yet another month had gone by and await the arrival of AF.
12th December 2007
I am a regular long cycle for AF of 34 days. But she still hadn't arrived. Now a week late I decided to take one last poke at it. This time to save confusion, I splashed out on a Clear Blue digital. With my 2yr old in the creché, I took myself to the Loo's (Couldn't wait until I got home).
I sat there watching the little egg timer spin around and around... I could hear people huffing outside at the time they had to wait to use the loo. I closed my eyes and placed my hand over the screen. I knew then if it was meant to be it would be this time. I opened my hand to see "Pregnant" On the screen.
The biggest smile ever came across my face. I raced out the loo to phone my mum, who had listened to me for months agonise over trying to get pregnant.
She even told me to check it. "You know you have bad eye sight, check it and see if it had "Not Pregnant" on it". Laughing at her I did check to reveal the same "Pregnant" I had read moments ago. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | 16 weeks Later...
It's now 7th of April 2008.
I still don't believe I am pregnant. I still feel I'll wake up and it'll be gone. After having a shock at 9 weeks when I went for an early scan for the fact that I'd had loads of treatment before and during pregnancy, midwife wanted to check baby was progressing normally. They had told me I'd had internal bleeding and had I had any. I replied no. She thought it very strange and warned me it may end in MC. I had to return at 12 weeks to check. But luckily the sonographer declared the bleeding had been re-absorbed.
27th March 2008
I found out my bean is a little girl, 80% sure. As I paid for the scan as my NHS don't tell you, I have to go back at 22 weeks to be 99% sure.
So now I just plod on until the 22nd of April arrives to know for 99% Sure but I felt girlie. But it'll be what it'll be. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well I found out for sure I'm having a girl at 22 weeks.
I'm now 26 weeks pregnant.
I had a rough night last night with premature labour. But luckily they managed to stop it. I'll copy the storey off my other thread.
What a night.
As you all know I went to bed early at around 6-7ish. I was getting the bad pain from my gallbladder again. My poor son was screaming but luckily my bro got in around 10 past 6 so he watched him so I could lie down. I txt Ema last night asking if there was any change on Amy and that I was still sore but easing and getting braxton Hicks. I wasn't worried about them as I'd had them
when I'd done too much. I managed to sleep on and off until 4am when I woke up needing to pee. Went down stairs and realised the hicks had become painful and I was getting really bad back ache. Straight away I knew something wasn't right, it just brought me back to my labour with my son, considering he was born in 2 hours max, I decided to phone labour ward to ask advice. They asked the usual questions, how far am I, how long have i had pain. And they noticed I'd been in twice in the last week so asked me to come right in. When I got there they explained I was in early premature labour. I was examined to see I was 2-3cm dilated. Contractions were irregular, they said that was a good sign that they should beable to stop it before it went too far. Everything after that moved really fast. I had a drip in my hand (which I hate) and they gave me a intravenous tocolytic drug treatment which is designed to slow and hopefully stop labour. I was given that about 6am and was told that it could take up to 2 hours to work. By 7am there was an incubator in my room and MW's kept mentioning that the SCBU was waiting by. About 8Am a doctor came in to see me. He said that because I'm 26 weeks, the babies survival rate can be anything 50-80%, they're never sure until it's born. He took swabs (see if any of my fluids were leaking) and blood test for hormone levels. I was still getting tightenings but they had eased and virtually no pain. So apprently it had worked, but they wouldn't know for sure for a little while.
It was such a relief when they stopped, I just noticed I hadn't had one for a while, it was weird how they just disappeared.
The doctor is extremely unhappy that I was sent away the second time with my gallbladder with no anitbiotics or anything. They can't do any xrays but they think my gallbladder has developed and infection which triggered labour. But luckily I went in early enough and my waters hadn't broke.
All tests came back fine, got to wait for my bloods, apparently your hormone levels raise in labour so we need to watch that they go back down. So regular blood tests for the next couple of weeks.
Doctor also said about 40% of women who have premature labour stopped go on to be 40 weeks and sometimes over due. It's just one of those things. I'm one of the lucky ones. I've got to expect baby to be quiet for the next few days as it's a traumatic experience.
I couldn't help being sat there worried about Amy though. I had the reasurance of the fact my baby is 26 weeks and stands a good chance of survival. She must be so worried. Which is why I'm staying positive for her. I was crying after they told me we were fine and they asked what was up but I didn't want to explain.
I really hope you're ok Amy and baby.
So I'm home on bed rest and anit-biotics and pain killers and lots of TLC!
On a lighter note, I think I've decided on babies name. My OH couldn't pronounce Elysia so that went out the window. But my MW last night was called Naomi. She was so supportive and positive. She was like my mum being there (my mum is in devon caring for my great aunt and is probably having kittens now) so she really helped with the mother figure telling me all would be fine. Then when she clocked off at 8am, I got another lovely MW called Ann. She kept telling me about sucess storeis of babies survive as early as 24 weeks, even though their SCBU doesn't support babies under 26 weeks, a few had been born there and rushed to York Hill in glasgow.
So I told my OH I'd really like to call her Naomi Ann.
Anyway, thankyou all for your kind words. This has been the worst weekend for our little pregnant family here. I really hope Amy and baby pull through. And my thoughts go out to 7WZ.

Oh also I love Naomi's meaning,
The meaning of the name Naomi is Beautiful, Gentle
The origin of the name Naomi is Hebrew
Also a Japanese name derived from two kanji: nao, which means honest, correct, or frank; and mi, which means beauty. | | | | Status: Offline
