Well, I'm sitting here after finding out that I'm going to be a dad. Which in itself is wierd, but good. Like I've said to my wife, I was more apprehensive about getting married then having a child.
I've been saving up the line 'Whose is it/Is it mine' for years, and what does the wife do.. She goes and ruins it :P
I'm joking of course, she phoned me up to tell me that she was pregnant, because she was feeling crampy for a long while, thus she thought she was coming on.
It's amazing as for 8ish years, we haven't been trying, but we haven't been not trying if you know what i mean (I.e no protection). Anyhow, we decided to do it properly so we brought the Taking care of your fertility book and software, we do one month and just as we're ready to start charting properly, she falls pregnant.
That's why she thought she was coming on, because she's just had a lap band thus was losing weight, she also has PCOS so we wasn't expecting anything for a LONG while.
She took a test a couple of days ago and she didn't see anything then and put it to one side. Took a cheapie yesterday and it was postive, she gets out the one from the other day and that one was positive too.
So she phoned me up cos she needed to talk to someone, which is cool . All I kept saying was hmmmm.
So got a clearblue (2 pack), she took it and it came back positive and just to double check, she took it again this morning, no change. Still going to be a dad.
So on tuesday, (she's got to go to the hospital regarding her band), we'll go to the doctors. From reading on various places, it just seems like she'll just have to see the midwife and go from there.
From what she's read, she might be high risk due to her weight, but we'll see.
So now I'm just reading everything I can, see what we're entitled to, what we can get free
Also thinking about seeing if we can get a house with the council as we're a lil overcrowded if the baby comes. We live with inlaws, but we live in a separate part of the house, so only got 1 living room and 1 bedroom, so for now the living room would eventually have to become the bedroom for the child.
I've got so many ideas, want to have a least one wall of the child's room with numbers and the alphabet. We're big book readers so hopefully that will be a plus (already sorting out dune herberts dune series to read to bump and baby). None of this "Peter and Jane" tosh. :P
The child is also going to be pretty lucky, we're tech heads, so it's going to come into a world where there parents are cool with big tvs, xboxs. wii's and what not. I'm also interested in martial arts like capoeria, so if it's a boy or girl, I can introduce them to that. If it's a girl, I like doing gymnasics myself so I'll be teaching my girl how to do that (I taught my nephew how to do a handstand and cartwheel).
One thing that was weird was this morning, I got up and felt very dizzy, then a little sick and then I couldn't finish my brekkie. It's almost like I've got the symptoms and not the wife.
A weird thing is that a couple of weeks ago, I had a dream where my wife had delievered a baby (now this was deffo in the 5 week that she's been preggers).
I'm thinking about getting a 3d scan when it's due.
Thinking of selling my studio camera lights . But should fetch about 400 quid.
At least I got good news this week
Thursday - Got told my bonus/payrise
Friday - News about wife
Has anyone had any experience of being pregnant and going through housing association to get a bigger house. We share at the moment, and all we have is 1 living room and 1 bedroom that is part of a larger house which is shared with the in-laws
