Shopping spree - Gotta get it out my system.

Well today, and yes I know it's way early as we're only in the 6th week, but I had to buy something.

Got an american style cot for a £10 from a guy at work. (nicked from ebay)

Also went with a woman who's into her cross stitching. So I thought it might make a good framed picture for the nursery. So this is my project for the year. Going to get lessons on how to do during lunchtimes at work. So imagine a 6'0" black guy trying to do cross-stitching in a busy lunch hall. Not very manly, but I don't care.

As I'm into my photography as well, I plan to do a day/week diary of Baby X to see how they grow from day to day. Should be an interesting project next year.

These two are my nephews when they was younger. How they're going to react to a new addition, not to sure.

Question of the day: Been reading various blogs. What does, for example 8+2 mean?

Also, the only bad thing about having all this information, is that you worry about every single cramp and feeling.

Oh nearly forgot, went to Matalan and brought two tshirts for a 3 pounds and two winnie the pooh feeding bibs. One tshirt says 50% bad and the other one says 50% good. Pretty cute I feel.

Oh and one mini rant, went to Primark, why would you have such short skirts (that you see on teenage hoochy-mommas) on a newborn. Like my mate (guy) said,

"Want to dress them in a babygrow, not dress them like a ho".

Cue snapping fingers and a "You go girl" (as seen on Rikki Lake) and I agree with him. Ended up going around for five minutes pointing out various combinations that were cool/cute (depending on whether they were boy/girl clothes).

Hi, just a quick answer 8+2 means; first number refers to the weeks i.e. 8 wks and the second is the number of days, indicating how old your little one is. So today your little one is 6 wks and tomorrow 6+1 weeks.
Hope this helps.
Love the cross stitch, i always go pooh and friends, havnt done any for over a year though. You'll pick it up easily.
Enjoying your journal. Take care.

Nothing much to report today, gonna search and research questions to ask the midwife on monday. Got the cot mentioned above and managed to squeeze it in the car. Then had to do a SAS stylee mission to bring it upstairs before the inlaws got home.

Seems to be sinking in that we might have a child by Xmas (no more cool presents for me

Although should be a bumper crop for baby.

I just wanted to say I think your journal is great, I love to see a man taking such an interest in his wife's pg. It just makes me smile.

As for the cross-stitch, picturing it as you described it just about made me cry and laugh! Granted, that's mostly hormones - I think it's fantastic. You'll be a great Dad, and your wife must just love having you around!

Well had the first midwife appointment. She took the wife's blood (after many tries) and organised the scan there and then (which was ace). So we're having the dating scan on the 9th April (which is good and nice and quick). We've also got the booking appointment this wednesday. So now it seems all offical.

We got the pack, so now we're going to have a good read of it and fill out the forms. She did get confused at one point and thought we were 10 weeks, but she soon realised

And of course, all the relevant questions went out of my head, so I'll just have to write it all down for Wednesday.

One thing I have realised is that I can't put off the jobs that need to be done around the place, cos before you know it the baby is going to be here.

I also finished reading Jon Smith's guide to pregnancy (for blokes) and it was ok until the part about labour. Talk about alot of pain, glad I'm not a woman. At least that's the only hard thing that women have about this pregnancy lark. The men have it way tougher than the women (I mean watching jeremy kyle for 9 months - luxury (while the men go out and work *manly grrrr*)). *joke* *joke*

Went to the u/s clinc. Went to MUMS in solihull. Very friendly, so if you're in the area, you should go check them out. Only cost 70 quid for an early scan too.

We thought we were approx 7 weeks, but after the scan we seem to be approx 5 weeks. Searched on here and it seems like that's a common thing to have experienced. We've got another scan on the 9th april (That would have been the 10th week). So just have to see if they can see something then.

The major good news is that 1) it can happen 2) There was a yolk sac present. 3) She guesstimated that the pole was approx 1mm, but she couldn't say for definite.

We got a dvd of the scan which is good. Let's just hope there's development in the weeks to come. So if that's correct, looks like a mid nov baby.

hi ya

glad to see everything is going so well, i also went to mums in solihull they were lovely, i went for a nuchal scan (where the measure the size of the nuchal chord re downs etc) and then for a sexing scan where we def saw a winky!!
One thing id say is dont tell the hospital that you have been to mums as if they know they wont do a dating scan (this is what happened to my friend), when id had the nuchal i went for my 12 week scan at the womens and they even said there if theyd have known id had the scan at mums they would have cancelled me as there was no need and the places are needed for others (mike at mums) asvised me to not tell them of any other scans i have!
Do you and your oh want to find out the sex of the baby at all?

Thanks for the advice, we weren't going to tell them anyway as we want the scan to make sure that everything is progressing nicely.

Also we do want to find out the sex (isn't 10 weeks going to be a bit early?)

What was the nuchal scan/sexing scan like at Mums?
