Clearblue conception Indicator

Hello there.

What do you all think of the Clearblue Conception Indicators- do you think they are accurate?

I did my first test 10 days ago and I was 1-2 weeks pregnant. Today I tested again with my spare test expecting to be 3+ weeks - but it still said 1-2 weeks and I don't know what to do. I am seriously worried something is wrong.

I phoned the clearblue helpline but they said that the tests were only estimates and I shouldn't be worried - but that if I was really concerned I should see my doctor!

My doctor is pretty hopeless at the best of times and I'm not even sure what he could do. I reckon that I am 5+2 today so I would really expect to be more than 1-2 weeks.

Please help - I'm going stir crazy - I can't do anything at work as I just can't take my mind off it. I've had no other symptoms at all. Is there anything I can do?

Did you use FMU? I would have expected you to be 2-3 rather than 3+ if it's only 10 days since your first test. The test could have been affected by anything really - dilute urine, a slightly wonky test. If you're worried, you could find out the number of your local early pregnancy unit (at your local hospital) and speak to them but if you are 5+2, nothing will show up on a scan. They might do blood tests a couple of days apart to see if your HCG levels are rising.

I wouldn't worry too much. They are only estimates and it said 1-2 weeks (which means 3-4 weeks from 1st day of your last period) so you might not be as far along as you think, which may be why it hasn't come up 3+ yet, you never know exactly so maybe if you had left it a few more days it would of read the 3 weeks plus. Contact your gp or mw and see if you can get an early scan but that you'd probably have to wait a few weeks to see anything. X

Oooh aunty E- at 5+2 you should expect to see the gestational sac and possibly the fetal pole with a trans-vaginal scan (i.e. internal one).

Might be worth popping in and asking them to do your bloods just to check but I wouldn't worry too much, those things are still relatively new and there is so much that can affect the concentration of hCG in your urine that I'd try not to panic.

Really? My doctor said that there was nothing to see before six weeks, and wouldn't do a scan....

My only other thought was that they don't just measure HCG, they also measure LH, so they're probably easy to confuse. I had no symptoms at all (apart from some spotting, which didn't help), but saw a heartbeat at 7+5. Hasn't stopped me worrying of course, but did help for at least a day

I think you're lucky if you can see a HB at 6+1. Can you imagine how worried you would be if you couldn't see it? The place where I had my private scan won't do them before 7 weeks, because of the number of women who get really upset that there's no heartbeat, when it could just be that it's not developed that far yet, or it's tricky to see. Personally, I wouldn't be volunteering for an internal ultrasound either, but that's just me and my sensitive cervix

I wouldn't worry too much. hCG levels very so much for different people and these figures give an example of the huge ranges in amounts which are still considered normal:

• 14 DPO HCG level, 48 mIU/ml. Range: 17-119 mIU/ml.
• 15 DPO HCG level, 59 mIU/ml. Range: 17-147 mIU/ml.
• 16 DPO HCG level, 95 mIU/ml. Range: 33-223 mIU/ml.
• 17 DPO HCG level, 132 mIU/ml. Range: 17-429 mIU/ml.
• 18 DPO HCG level, 292 mIU/ml. Range: 70-758 mIU/ml.
• 19 DPO HCG level, 303 mIU/ml. Range: 111-514 mIU/ml.
• 20 DPO HCG level, 522 mIU/ml. Range: 135-1690 mIU/ml.
• 21 DPO HCG level, 1061 mIU/ml. Range: 324-4130 mIU/ml.
• 22 DPO HCG level, 1287 mIU/ml. Range: 185-3279 mIU/ml.
• 23 DPO HCG level, 2034 mIU/ml. Range: 506-4660 mIU/ml.
• 24 DPO HCG level, 2637 mIU/ml. Range: 540-10,000 mIU/ml.

So someone at 24 DPO could have the same levels as someone testing at 18 DPO. The tests probably go by the average levels but some people will still have much less hCG in your urine and will therefore get a result of fewer weeks on the tests x

Thanks everyone - I feel a bit better now. I think I'll try and hold on for a few more days and try and book a private scan at 7 weeks.

I wish they had never invented these tests - is it just a marketing plan to make paranoid people like me keep testing until they get the right result??

I really hope my little bean sticks . It has been such a long road to get to this point. I thought I would be on cloud nine getting my BFP (which obviously I was) but after a couple of days I was a nervous wreck. I just want to hibernate until I get to 12 weeks. Does anyone else feel like this? I feel like I'm counting down every day and they are going soooo slowly.
