scan at 4w 5d?

I had some bleeding last week and my doctor said I can be sent for an early scan but I'm surprised to be told I'm having a scan today at 4w5d. Will I see anything at all?!
I thought it wouldn't be for at least a week yet.

To be honest they probably wont see much. I had a scan with DD2 when I was 4+6 and all the sonographer could see was what she called a "transonic area" that was 4mm big that she said could possibly be a gestational sac. I had a beta done after that and my numbers doubled as they should. They did a repeat scan at 6+1 and saw gest sac, yolk sac and fetal pole with heartbeat. If they cant pick up anything on your scan maybe suggest getting beta done? xxx

That's kinda what I'm expecting.
I actually phoned them back to check they do want to do the scan as I'm early and she said its fine.
I'm wondering if they will do a blood test to.

They should do blood test as beta numbers also help to rule out things like ectopic pregnancy aswell. x

According to my LMP I'm 4+2 another calculator said I was 5 weeks? However I've been experiencing some oldish brown blood discharge so we're headed to the Healthplex tonight can I ask for a blood test?

i was told is the earliest they would see something is 5 weeks and then it would be just a sac... good luck!

I saw this at 5+2 (ish)

... so you'll see something smaller than this... so don't be disheartened! Tbh I didn't know what I was looking at - if anything! I was just happy the scanner said all was fine

hey

I had a scan done at the same time as xloulabellex and we were able to see a tiny matchstick lol but there was a heart beat and that is what matters. As long as they can identify something at this early stage then they might call you back in at six weeks when they can do a transvaginal ultrasound and hopefully detect a heart beat.
Im sure everything will be fine and your wee bubs will grow xoxoxo

She couldn't see anything but said the lining looks good and she has re-booked me in for another scan in 11 days. I'll be 6+2 by then so hopefully should see something.

I really want expecting her to see anything so early so I just need to relax and hope I get there this time.
