Dopplers - has this happened to you????

Hi ladies. Im trying not to be concerned but here goes...

I thought I would try the doppler today. Havent done in a couple of weeks and my friend has leant it to me after giving birth on monday night.

So anyway. After, maybe 10 minutes or so I found the babys hb. I was thrilled....then decided to get up and get a stopwatch to time it.
When I tried to find it again I just couldnt. I gave it about 20 minutes or so and nothing, just mine all over the place.
So Im trying not to freak out because the chances of anything happening in that little window are very low....but even so.
Has this happened to you?

I dont know if it makes a difference but I hadnt eaten breakfast yet...

This happened to me a few times. It often took my over half an hour to find it at 12 weeks anyway. I've only just started being able to find it every time at 22 weeks haha. There's just sooo much space for a small one to hide . Definately don't worry till baby's at least 16-20 weeks if you can't find it. My midwife won't even look till 20 weeks. xxx

babies move around, and i thought id found the heartbeat except it was the placenta, the midwife did mine at 16 weeks and it was nothing like i thought i had found, theres loads of heartbeat sounds goin on in there you can find your heartbeat,a pulse, so try not to worry and i dont really use mine now im waiting for midwife as i know she will get the right one, as my bub seems to like to move a lot x

At 12 weeks the baby is tiny and has lots of space to hide, even a midwife won't try and find it that early.

Big hugs, don't worry. Very natural to happen as bubs is tiny and can hide lots. I'm sure all is ok, maybe try again later once calmed down a little

Thank you all so much. I was hoping it would just be a case of bub hiding or something.
It really knocked the wind out of my sails when I couldnt find it again. Ah well. I will be less anxious from now on. Thanks ladies. x x x

Mine tends to be hard to find if ive just woke up or if its very late in the evening, so I think its really hard to find if baby is asleep. I find mine everytime I look, but my MW was really surprised that we could hear it already. xxxxxx

Baby is just floating around in there. Try not to worry yourself bc I did the sane thing ..couldn't find heartbeat for about a week when I first got Doppler ..as u can imagine I was freaking out. Then I decided to put the Doppler down an step away ..truth is baby is just so small an wiggly! If you don't put that Doppler right over heart it's faint and hard to pick up..plus pressing ever so slighty baby doesn't like so it will float away fast lol. I finally started to hear mine after 12wks an a day or so .. But even now he likes to wiggle away ..lil toot. Give it time and don't worry yourself
