Reasurance Please

Had a midwife appointment today and she tried listening for the baby's heartbeat after much trying she gave up because she couldn't hear anything! I know it's normal this early, she told me it was and baby was jsut hiding...I'm just a little stress head! lol

So come on girls tell me the same happened to you

In my first pregnancy the mw wouldn't even try to listen for the heartbeat till 15 weeks in case we heard nothing but she did get it at 15 weeks. She told me she wasn't ment to try and find it even that early cos it makes people worry if it cant be found. remember at 12 weeks the babe tho nearly fully formed is still only 5 or 6 cm's so it might be hard to find at this stage, from what ive heard 12 weeks is the earlist the hb can be found. The last time i saw the MW i was 11 +3 and she couldn't find the heart beat....so i got a Doppler and i still cant find the heartbeat....dont worry hun its normal

Some girls on here have heard the heartbeat quite early 9, 10 weeks but its all down to luck and where baby is etc,

The best thing to remember is that if your MW was at all worried she would be sorting you a scan or getting you to go back next day to check it out and if shes not worried you shouldn't be

My MW wont even try until 16 wks as its so distressing when baby,s heartbeat cant be heard xxx

thanks girls! Kind wish she hadn't tried to listen and jsut waited till me next appointment at 17 weeks!

hi, i found babys hb myself with a doppler, angel sounds, it took me about 40mins, it was really low down, this thing cost £20 well worth getting one then u can take your time and find it. x

julie ... how early did you hear it with the angelsounds? I can't wait for mine to arrive.

The same thing happened to me but doc tried at 10w3d. I'm going back in a few weeks to try again.

with my last pregnancy my mw tried finding it, she did find it but explained before hand that she would prob not find it as the baby was so small and likes hiding in your pelvis, which obviously they cant get to. its normal x

im jealous that u got 2 see your mw at 12 weeks. i saw my midwife at 9 weks 4 booking in app and i wont see her again till 16 weeks
