Ovarian cyst anyone?

Hi girls,

I have been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst (after lots of bloods/scans etc for pain Ive been getting in my side for the last few weeks.

Its messuring 3.5 cm, and Im being scanned Friday (to double check it is a cyst and not another pregnancy growing in my fallopian tube)

I just wondered if anyone else has ever had a cyst whilst pregnant, and if they went on thier own? I am still in a lot of pain - mainly if I have been busy during the day. I spend all night on the sofa moaning to OH about it!!

Just wanted a bit of reassurance I suppose, any help would be great.

Thanks xxxx

My sister did. She only found out about it when she went for her 12 week scan. They were suprised that she wasn't experiencing any pain from it. They wanted to remove it ASAP so she had it removed while she was pregnant. She was in hospital for a couple of days without any complications. It didn't have any effect on her prgnancy and she now has a healthy 6 year old daughter.

Big ((hugs)). I've heard they can be quite common in pregnancy. They don't always have to remove them it depends on the circumstances. Good luck for the scan x

I've had ovarian cysts for as long as I can remember. I even had a laparoscopy to repair my ovary being wrapped up in my fallopian tube surrounding by scar tissue because of cysts bursting. I have them now that I'm pregnant, one in particular is on my lower right side and has hurt since weeks one of my pregnancy. As far as I know, they just grow and burst by themselves. I've only seen one person have surgery and that was because hers was the size of a grapefruit. Maybe you could ask your OB to prescribe something for it or to monitor it when you have an ultrasound. But beside that you're just going to have to wait it out. =(

Thanks so much for that girls.

I have been having lots of pain tonight, even after taking painkillers, and I guess I am just a bit anxious about it.

Thanks again x

I am sorry hun. I know my Mom had something similar to what you are taking about. I know what you mean about painkillers. I wish I could pop one for this all day long headache!

My sis in law had one cyst of 8 cm. But she was not getting any pain. They came to know about the cyst in her 6 th week scan only.As the cyst was big in size doc advised to remove it and she undergoes a surgery in 14 th week and removed the cyst. She has to be in the hospital for 5 days. It was an open surgery. Now she is fine and is in her 5 th month of healthy pregnancy.

Since your cyst is small in size I think it will go on its own after 3 months.Even if doc advised you to remove it, nothing to worry on it.That will not affcet your baby in any way...
