Pain in left side

Hi, I am 4+4wks pregnant and tonight I was out for dinner. I was sitting down and I got these sharp pains in my groin on left side, low down. Kind of weher my ovary is I guess. They weren't painful as such but enough to make me notice them. They each lasted about 1-2 seconds and then stopped. I maybe got abot 6 in total. (I did have some gas and have just been to the toilet (tmi) on my return and do not have any at the moment)...Should I be concerned? xx

It could also be any of the following UTI, kidney infection, kidney stones or a bladder infection. I'd call your dr. just to be safe. I currently have a pain on my right side and had blood in my urine. I know it is an infection or stones and plan to go to the clinic tomorrow to verify which it is. I had a UTI, stones and kidney infection all at the same time 8 years ago and it is the same exact pain I had then. UTIs and kidney infections can be very common during pregnancy. With my last baby I had 3 that I remember.

Hiya,

I have been at trhe hosital over the wknd because of this. If they are sharp short pains - they might be stretching pains, but they may not be. Id been suffering with mine for a week when I went to my gp who then advised to get it checked out further.

They have been 1-2 seconds long, sometimes very sharp. Any pain in your side should not be ignored hun. I was treated very seriously in hospital as it is a symptoms of ectopic pregnancy. I had blood tests for various things, including my HCG level. I went back last night for repeats to check the leves had doubled. Thankfully they had - but I have now been reffered to go and have an ultrasound tomorrow.

I am over cautious because I have m/c'd before, but if the pains become very strong, you have any bleeding or you get any shoulder tip pain you need to dash to A&E. (it sounds very dramatic and scary, but my sister in law had to have her ovary and fallopian tube removed from the one side last month because she had an ectopic pcy)

I dont want to scare you hun, just make sure you're safe xxxx

Thank you for your replies. I woke up this morning and had one of the pains, but they are hardly pains, more like 'zaps'!? I feel fine otherwise. I am calling my GP this morning anyway to rearrange my first appointment so I will see if they have a cancellation for today while I am on the phone. If they continue or get worse I will take myself off to A&E. Thanks again xx

Im sure you'll be fine hun, but its always best to get these things doubled checked. It does sound a bit dramatic, but the worst is not worth thinking about.

I couldnt believe the treatment I received in A&E over the weekend, they were great really. Especially as the pain went while I was there - I felt like a bit of a fraud!! It kind of turned into a zap - and then after painkillers, like a painless zap - if that makes sense?!

Anyway, so far all seems well, I'll post what the results from the US are tomorrow. Try not to worry - it may just be wind

xxxxx

I called the doctor and managed to get an appointment later on today. I just want my bloods taken and to know that everything is ok. I thought you couldn't get ligament/ stretching pain so early on? BUt then I know my little bean is nearly 5 weeks and that he/she/they (oh my goodness, i couldn't cope with twins) will be growing so fast! xx

UPDATE- pain is more central now and the doc said that she was not concerned, just stretching pains. She pretty much warned me that they will spread to my hips and legs!! Gave a urine sample too to check for UTIs but overall it went well. I am much more relaxed now.

But how annoying are those little painful zaps of stretching??!!!!
