Ive been offered it and it gives u the risk of having a down sydrome baby thru bloods and i think i get a scan also. Has any1 had this and what ecastly is it looking for? Ive heard of teh nucleur fold scan at 12 -14 weeks for detecting downs but not this? I know i said yes to all tests last time but never got this and my friend thats going to the sae hopsital and had just had her little girl had it done also.

Im going to have it, tho im not going for the next stage even if they say im high risk as it can lead to mc. If its a high risk then i will be prepared. Its good also that i get to see the baby again ( i was told that they also scan u). Im assuming thats to make sure ur dates are right?

I got given leaflets from GP to read and for us to make up our mind.

From what I gather they do a blood test and get your results as either high risk or low risk...if its high you can then go on to get further tests such as ascan for spina bifida as I think they can tell on a scan done further along and also an amnio for downs.

GP said there are 3 categories for people

1)You dont do anything.
2)You get the tests regardless of result you wont do anything.
3)You get the tests and decided to end pregnancy.

At the moment I think we are in no 2 as we would like to know so we can be prepared. But we are definatley not no 3.
