Tests... spilling the beans and more questions... questions gallore!!

Hi all

At first i just wanted to shout from the roof our news but as I am getting into the pregnancy I quite like having a secret between me and my husband - just feels special some how!!

I am now thinking the longer I dont have to tell anyone the better as there will still be plenty of time to share the rest of my pregnancy with people. Obviously would want to tell family once the scan is ok but really I want to know everything is ok. So am now thinking that once we have the downs tests etc then we tell people

But ...

1) When do you start to show and how long do you think you could get away with not saying anything in terms of putting on wait and showing?

2) When is the earliest you can have your final tests?

3) what is the three test I have sen a few people say about?

Hiya babes congrats ... the best person to ask about tests is your Midwife, different hospitals offer them at different times so it all depends where you live.

I know mine at Stafford General offer them all when you go for your first scan so they can analyse it all together with the scan images at the next midwife apt after - just have to opt in or out.

Depending on your build you can start showing any time from 12 weeks. I am tall and fat, so didn't show with my first till I was about 24 weeks, where as my small and skinny friend was showing at 12 weeks with her first. They say you show earlier with subsequent pregnancies, it has been true for me. With my last pregnancy I was showing at 15 weeks.

Hmmm, I showed really obvioulsy no denying it from 14 weeks. However I don't know how this subsequent pregnancy will show up quicker as I sill have a bump left from my son!

Even though I hear thats how it goes.

I don't know abt what 'final' tests you mean hunni and am not sure on the 'three' tests either, I know with ds abt ten weeks I had blood taken to chekc for hiv, soemthing else and likelyhood od downs syndrome.

I had three scans, 6 weeks (they thought was ectopic) eleven weeks and twenty weeks. Although five years on and I have no idea what to expect other than they say after four years it's like having your first again! (oh dear! + OUCH!)
