Phew! A load off!

We told our parents last night.

I have just spent a week with my parents and didn't tell them. I was worried that they would think it was bad timing, what with us trying to relocate and it not really going anywhere at the moment.

Since I got back though my mum has been sending me text messages asking if I had any news. She might have been asking about jobs, seeing as I was up there for interviews, but I got the feeling there was something else to it.

I spoke to her last night and she was fishing for news and I said "Are you expecting me to have something to tell you?" and she ummed and ahhed and said she thought I might have something to do with pregnancy to tell her!! I got the giggles and started crying - bloody hormones - but said nothing.

I got off the phone and broke down crying, hubby just hugged me while I got it out and I decided just to ring her back and tell her, since she obviously knew anyway!

So I rang her and told her and my dad and they were ecstatic! I told her the truth, that I had been worried how she would react and suddenly felt so silly and really guilty for not telling them while I was staying with them.

OH decided he should tell his mum too, once my parents knew, it was only fair. We were both really nervous about how she would react. She has never been very supportive of our decisions. Hubby went off to another room so I couldn't hear if he to into an argument with her (at my request).

He was talking to her for ages then he came trotting back into the living room with a big grin and started asking me questions and relaying my answers to his mum. She's a midwife, so had various questions about it all and wanted to pass on some advice. But she was really pleased and passed no judgement.

All that worry is gone! What a relief to get it out in the open. No matter what happens with relocating I know we'll be ok now because our parents are supportive. About 90% of my anxiety is gone now

Aww hun, having read a few people say that their parents reacted badly to the first pregnancy they all say how different it was second time around.

I'm sure your families will be pleased :-)
