Plus Size Pregnancy

i got my yesterday, my period is due tomorrow. I am exactly 4 weeks today. really excited, but I had a miscarraige in April so still worried. I was wondering if there are any more Plus size expectees who could give me advise if there is anything I can do to prevent it again...

Also, wondering about scans, I am a s.24 so worrying that they wont find baby in all my fat!

Im a 22 top and saw baby without any problems or need of an internal at 6 weeks 4 days. As for preventing misscarriage, i dont think because of your weight you lost your baby, i also suffferred a miscarriage last year, but also people who aren't plus size suffer these, it's natures way and sometimes we do not know why it happens it just does.
Please tru to enjoy your 9 months, relax take it easy.
The advice i was given by some horrible consultant was to try pregnancy yoga and aquaaerobics, maybe you should try it

Despite whet some people say, i don't think size has anyhtig to do with it........!!! I am a size 18 and they could see perfectly at my scan too.

Eat healthy, try and start excersising a little, perhaps swimming and THINK POSITIVE!!!!

hunny i dont think you mc because of your weight, as i am a size 18-20 and at present exspecting my 4th child, all pregnancies have gone very good.

relax and try and enjoy this time, i know it will be hard not to think about what happen last time, but the more you worry, the more stress you will become.

I beat you all I am a size 30/32 I will let you know if I can seee bubba next Thursday, if they can see through my fat belly they can see through any ones.

I also don't think the MC was your weight, many people who are of the 'normal' size have them it is I guess natures way.

The docs tend to blame anything on size though, I once had an ingrowing toenail that was blamed on my size as were my headaches even though thin ppl get both; it was still my weight

Good luck with your pregnancy

I doubt it has anything to do with weight. Most miscarriages are due to chromosonal problems, not your weight! I know people who are average-small sized that have miscarried, and I also know plus sized people who have had the healthiest pregnancies of all time!!

Good luck!!

Doctors will always try to scare you that you're gonna have more problems if you're overweight. Well we all know that being bigger can cause health problems but it doesn't have to be the case. I was a size 18-20 before I got pregnant and have had a great pregnancy so far, no sickness, perfect blood pressure etc. The only thing is have now is some water retention, but that happens to many women, big or small.
One consultant I saw though, seems convinced that i will develop gestational diabetes, and has already booked me in for glucose testing, and an extra growth scan etc. When he started talking about probably having to have a C-Section, (at the time i was only 18 weeks!!) I had to stop him and ask,
"Have I ever shown any signs of diabetes, for example sugar in my urine?"
He then had to admit that no, there were no current indicators. I then said to him
"I appreciate you being cautious, but I really don't feel it's appropriate to be discussing things such as C-sections now, when there's no eveidence at all to suggest that I will actually need one, do you? I am aware of the problems which can arise in pregnancy, but am not going to worry unneccessarily about something which has not even happened yet."
The consultant didn't know what to say, I don't think he was used to being challenged. My Mum was in hysterics after he left the room, and even the midwife had a little chuckle.
But I'm really glad I stood up for myself, as I believe he was getting far too carried away.
Just be sensible hun, and try to stay as healthy as possible, and that's the best thing you can do for you and your bubs. Hope you have a very happy and healthy pregnancy.
xxx
