I'm Currently Feeling: | So I guess I had no idea what a Midwife was?!!? I was talking to a friend of mine who is also pregnant and she was telling me she has a midwife rather then a doctor!!!
I THOUGHT MIDWIVES WERE A U.K TERMINOLOGY FOR DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
I read up on midwives and was like OMG WHY DONT I HAVE ONE!! I had my first appt yesterday with an OBGYN and it was a terrible experience! It was 10 mins long, she came in, asked questions, and then left and made me book an appt. Never asked if I had an questions, nothing! It was so upsetting that at my first ever first appointment for being pregnant it was such a disapointment! My friend was saying her appts are about 45 mins long with her midwife every month, and shes very involved!
I AM SO CALLING ONE TOMORROW AND TRYING TO GET ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm interested in them, too...although doctors don't always push them. Some see them as competition. I think that's more here in the US, though. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well we just moved to a new city when I found out I was pregnant. So I went to a clinic (im in canada) and she referred me to an obgyn. I was talking to my mom today who is the queen of doing it old school, having a doctor and all, and she said midwives are the way to go now! Its just makes the experience more personal then going to an obgyn who has her next appt 10 mins after you!
Im not sure about in the states but here in Ontario, Canada midwives are free! Yay! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I had a doctor with my first pregnancy and I have a midwife for my current pregnancy. This time around is wonderful! She is much more sensitive to my needs. I highly recommend getting a midwife. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well I'm based i the UK and I started out by seeing my Doctor. The doctor has now referred me to the midwife, who will contact me for an appointment in the next few weeks. With the midwife, they specialise in all pregnancy related matters, book you in for scans, help you to decide birthing plans etc - hope this makes sense:-) |

| Midwifes know so much more about pregnancy and babies than doctors do. Plus, some doctors do have an elitist attitude and I think it's less common with midwives. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | LOL. Midwives are wonderful people provided you get the right ones. I'm assuming you're from the US, as Australia is turning to midwives. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Midwives do a booking in appointment - very quick then your visits will be longer afterwards.
I was at the understanding the doctor would rather you seen your MW in the UK regarding your pregnancy and then they can refer you to the EPU etc if needed usually quicker than the doctor can! |
