Really Sore Teeth & Gums - Is This Normal??

Hi everone,

I have had really sore teeth and gums since before finding out I was pregnant but it is getting worse every day. Is this something that can happen during pregnancy?

Your teeth and gums can weaken in pregnancy ...after so many weeks until your baby is 1 your entitled to free dental treatment - I believe from now tbh if you told em (the dentist).

I would go and check it out you may need a lil mouth wash is all!

My 'thing' whist pregnant was an electric toothbrush, strong toothpaste & brushing my tongue! I *loved* it ha!

Thank you for that - I have a dentist appointment next week so I'll get it checked out then - I didn't realise that you get free dental treatment whilst pregnant so cheers for that advice

Yer your doc should do a form for you sign it, then you fill it in send it off and you get a card through the post giving you exemption. You just show that. But if you haven't got it when you go just tell them its on its way.

Sore gums is a sign of gum disease, and the hormones in pregnancy tend to make the gums hypersensitive to plaque.

Sounds like you need a good scale and polish, possibly some corsodyl mouthwash and take extra special care on your oral hygeine during this period.

yup bleeding gums are common too, so you have to be careful and get regular check ups with your dentist
