I think my cat knows...

We have three cats. One is shy and stays out most of the time. Another is a total mummy's boy, very clingy and cuddly with me, the other is a daddy's girl. She loves attention but doesn't usually go looking for it, she expects it to come to her - in that way cats have!! And she mostly enjoys attention from my DH, rather than me, and she's *not* a lap cat. She wants to be stroked and tickled but not from the lap.

Well the last couple of days her behaviour has changed. She keeps coming to find me and demanding massages. Most significantly, last night she came and sat on the arm of the sofa next to me, that's the closest she's come to jumping into a lap in her whole life!

I think she knows I'm pregnant, she can smell the hormones or something, I'm sure of it. It's such a dramatic change in behaviour and I don't tend to believe in coincidences.

I reckon animals can sense pregnancy. I think I've heard that somewhere before. I know babies and small children can. I've been getting some really weird looks from some of the babies in my family lately!!!

I've always thought so. I was worried about how my little mummy's boy cat would react. I thought he might not like it and grow distant from me, but he hasn't really so far. Maybe he will later when I actually have a bump and he can feel the extra heart beat when he curls up with me! Or he might like it like our female cat obviously does!

My cat has always been quite clingy, but even more so lately. He's really careful round my bump, and loves making a fuss of it, rubbing his head all over it and purring! lol
xx

lol well I have 3 cats and 3 dogs, and Im pretty sure my mad lot are completely oblivious to little one, cats still push their paws really had on my tummy, dogs still jump up and throw their weight on me.....

so no change there then- mind you it is a bit of a madhouse with them all so not surprised they have become desensitised to everything around them

I think mine does too... always lying on my belly and pounding it. In fact I talk to him about the baby tell him he will still get cuddles and we will still love him, I tell you it is like getting the first child prepared

LOL! I'm like that with my little guy. Until now the three cats have been our babies, and they will all have to get used to that changing, especially my clingy bundle of fur, Misty. I talk to him all the time and have been trying reassure him that he is still my special little guy!!
