First pregnancy Q's

Hello,

I got my last week i'm in week 5 now I went to the GP the only thing she told is to book with a midwife and told me to take 5 mg folic acid ..
I'm taking pregnacare plus is that enough?

my other Q is i didnt get any conformation about my preg from the GP and my appoinment is 11th aug its too far to wait until then am I missing something?

when I called to book an appointment with the midwife they told me there is a class at 9 am on the 24th of july what is it about?

sorry for stupid questions

my doc told me to take 400 micrograms of folic acid and that is the amount in the pregnacare but not sure about pregnacare plus.

My GP dipped my urine again but did say that they use the same tests as the ones from chemist so if it says positive it will be.

I was told that you see the midwife between 8 and 10 weeks for a booking in appointment which takes about 45 mins but have no idea about the class.

Sorry if this isn't much help it's my first as well

Pregnacare plus has exactly the same vitamins and minerals in it as pregnacare except the plus version has omega 3 in it.

The doctor probably felt confident that you were quite happy with your so felt no need to test again, mine's did this today too. If you feel you need more confirmation home pregnancy tests are just as reliable as the ones the doctors do.

I think they maybe thought you meant antenatal classes???

Try not to worry too much, and don't worry about asking too many questions, better to ask then not know.

If you need anything - just ask!

antenatal classes are great to give you more information and prepare you for not only the labour and birth but also the newborn baby and to let you know what will happen.

They usually start nearer the end of your pregnancy, mines were for 3 weeks and started when i was 34 weeks.

How far on are you?? We could keep in touch via PM's if you'd like to ask anymore questions, although you are doing the right thing asking on here as everyone combined on this forum are so knowledgeable!!

Its a bit early to be going to antenatal classes. I know that here you cant even book yourself in for one until you are 18 weeks.

Take a good pronatal vitamin with folic acid and get yourself booked in for a 'booking' appt at about 8-11 weeks. Make sure the doc has referred you so you get your nuchal scan at about 11 weeks ish.

Hi Abour, im on baby no.5 and the GP has always taken my word for each pregnancy, this time round was quicker, I got my first midwife appt at 8 weeks (which i believe 8-10 weeks is now standard practice), all my others were at 12 weeks! Its quite horrible really because for the first weeks its like you are almost ignored. I would guess that the class they are talking about is an early pregancy class or hospital guided tour (thats the only classes they do at my hospital so early in your pregnancy) ?? Hope this helps.

I went to my GP when i was about 4 weeks. He referred me and at 10 weeks I got a letter through the post with my scan appointment and my booking in appointment. My scan was when I was 13+3 and my booking in was when I was 13+6. My booking in was lots of form filling it, getting my blood checked and giving them a urine sample

Ater your booking in you might not get another appointment until you are 16 weeks to get your bloods taken for Edwards, Downs and Spina Bifida screening.
