I've always dreamt of a large family and it hurts that I'm going to need Clomid each time to have my babies.

I am against abortion when it's used as a contraceptive method. That is disgusting.

Yet, it's nobody's business to tell a woman what to do with her own body so I don't understand people who try to pressure a woman one way or the other (not referring to anyone's post here, please don't take it personally).

I am not against very-early-term (4-8 weeks) abortion if proper precautions were taken and something happened to go wrong. If a condom-using 15yo gets pregnant because of the condom breaking, I wouldn't judge her if she has an abortion.

Adoption is an option but how about the pregnancy? A 15 yo girl's body isn't even fully developed yet, she could die during birth. She very likely won't be emotionally ready to go through the pregnancy. It's a big responsibility to carry a baby in your body for 9 months. Hormonal changes take their tolls on couples who are in relationships enough, I can't imagine a little girl (yes, a 15 yo is a little girl in my opinion) going through it on her own!

As icing on the cake, she's going to be judged by everyone around her. Nobody will see her as doing a noble deed even if she's going to giver her baby up for adoption. She's not a surragate mother, she's not old enough to take on such a responsibility.

I'm not even going to talk about how she doesn't even know what she wants in her life yet and how much she would be missing out on. Nobody can be expected to give up so much from her life when she's not ready.

Moreover, all this trauma is going to affect the baby. She's very possibly going to resent her baby, become a depressed, bitter person.

And the baby will suffer from all this stress too and will not have the healthy emotional start in the womb.

So, rather than throwing girls/women into situations they're not ready for and creating dysfunctional individuals (mom, baby, possibly the father, the grandparents), abortion can be the better option.

To me, it doesn't matter how old the woman is or what kind of a relationship she's in. It's her right to choose what she wants to do with her body, and go through the consequences, be it birth or abortion.

I don't support teenage pregnancies but if a teenage girl decides to keep her baby, I believe all we can do is just respect that choice.
im going to be a teenage mum, im 18, i will be 19 in october..i wont be a teenage mum for long...but even though im a teenager im going to do everything i can for my little baby..me and my OH can support the LO financially and emotionally...i dont know wether you meant that you don't support teenagers as in really young teenagers such as 14, 15 year olds...i think it really depends on the situation that the person is in.

Sorry Tilly, just the way I read the original post how the girl seemed to say so lightheartedly that she'd have an abortion. Probably my reading, if she's thought about it then that statement definately doesn't refer to her.

I would have said that at this age though and I would have said this if I wasnt in a loving and commited relationship..... and I dont think I should have been judged at all!! I understand how they are the ones having sex so should take responsibility BUT nievity comes into it ALOT!!!! Hey Im 22 and still got pregnant cos I was nieve!! You just dont think its going to happen to you!! Admitingly I knew if I ever fell pregnant baby would be a keeper but I can understand how some minds think!!
Abortion rates are so high... which Im not saying is a good thing but I know quite a number of my friends that have had an abortion and my younger sister and it annoys me that people just judge them!! They may well be being selfish but sometimes in life we just have to be!! And abortions at 8 weeks is no way like an abortion at 17+ weeks! My sisters case was that she on BCP but another antibiotic she was on must have cancelled it out!! Her OH at the time didnt get on with the family and she as just 19 years old!! She wasnt very happy and as it ends up she isnt with that guy now!! It wasnt even my family presurising her my mum supported whatever decision and went with her to the clinic!! Doesnt make my sis a bad person!!

I just wanted to point out that sometimes no matter how careful people are these things happen. I was on the pill and took it religiously. Result = over 13 weeks pregnant!

Just read this thread and it stands to reason that in a ttc section many people will find the idea of abortion very difficult. But what no-one seems to have commented on is that this person is a week late and may be pregnant. She doesn't know for sure that she is and she has had very little time to think about it. Possibly this is the first time she's faced the 'what will you do' question anywhere except in her own mind.

We don't know what the circumstances are - it's possible that she is one of the unlucky 1% who the pill fails - but regardless, she has the right to make her own decision based on her knowledge of her life and circumstances.

Everybody is different and has different reasons for abortion. Not down to anyone to judge!
