I'm Currently Feeling: | Young and in need of help I had posted this originally in the Teen Pregnancy section, but someone suggested re-posting here as I may receive more responses.
For the last few weeks I haven't been able to shake this feeling that I might be pregnant, despite the fact that it is unlikely. I've been taking birth control pills for a little over a year now, which I started taking so that I would only get my period every three months as I always have HORRIBLE cramps, which I actually had to go to the ER because of before.
I've never once missed a pill entirely, I did once take a pill late by about an hour, but that was way back in November or so. Considering that it would be unlikely that I would be pregnant. As already stated, because of the BCP that I take I only get my period every 3 months, and the last time was June 10th through 13th or 14th I believe. I didn't have sex for around 3 weeks, June 5th was the last time before the 30th that I did. Obviously the 5th is before the day that I started my period, which makes it even more unlikely that I'm pregnant. My worry however, is that since sperm can live for several days that it did so and I conceived sometime during my period.
The reasons why I think I may be pregnant is a great increase in appetite which has last for a few weeks, breast tenderness, and being more emotional than normal. On either Thursday or Friday I'm going to be taking a pregnancy test to find out whether or not I am. I'm just not sure whether or not it will be accurate since typically tests are supposed to be used around a missed period, but I'm not having another period until September...
I am quite young, but not incredibly, I'm not 15 or anything like that, I'm turning 18 in 2 months. I've been with my boyfriend for quite a while, it's approaching two years, and he's turning 20 in a month. Though a pregnancy wouldn't be the best thing for me right now, it wouldn't be the worst either and I know that both myself and my boyfriend would be able to handle it. If I am pregnant there is no chance at all of an abortion, as I don't think I could handle that. I would either keep the baby or give it up for adoption, I don't know which yet as I don't even know if I am pregnant.
The main point in this thread is to ease my mind as well as get any support and advice that I can. Also, to be told whether or not a pregnancy test would be accurate in these circumstances.
Thank you. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | From what you have said it seems very unlikely that you are pregnant, and increased appetite and breast tenderness are pre-menstrual symptoms too. I would do a test to put your mind at rest, and if you dont want a baby then just be extra cautious with your birth control. Even on the pill my cycles sometimes differed from month to month, as did my pre-menstrual symptoms. |

I know the symptoms that I've been experiencing aren't PMS because I wouldn't be having PMS until September, which is when I should be having my next period. With me my periods have always been regular, since the time that I first started getting them, and even after taking BC. The only irregularity I've experienced while on BC is incredibly light spotting back in January or so, but even then that only lasted a day.
I am extra cautious about taking my pill, as I said before I've only been late taking it once, and that was a long time ago and only by an hour. I always take it within 2 minutes of the time I'm supposed to.
I know it's unlikely that I'm pregnant, but it's also not impossible since even birth control isn't 100% effective. My body has just been so weird lately. Whether it's pregnancy or something else causing this, I'll be finding out soon. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I know that birth control isnt 100%, I have an 11 year old daughter to prove it! And like you I took my pill religiously. Sometimes hormones can do strange things to your body, or maybe your body doesnt agree with your current pill anymore?? |

My mind is just going crazy right now, and it doesn't help that this morning I was experiencing nausea, which could just be from stress though. |

| How come you are unable to test til later? If its because of payday maybe as some of them are quite ddear then poundland do 3 for £1, gotta love that poundland lol. I think the possibility of pregnancy is there as the ladies said above all sorts of things could happen even a tummy bug can affect it I think? Good luck either way. | | | | Status: Offline

Good luck either way. | I'm currently not able to go and purchase the tests, so I had ordered some cheapies on e-bay which won't get here until tomorrow or Friday. On Friday I'll probably go to the store in the morning and buy one there, but that's the soonest I would be able to actually go and get one.
I just realized that I should change the bit in my post about not having told my boyfriend about my concerns, as did so yesterday but didn't change it in the original thread and then forgot all about that bit being in there! |
