Swelling!?

So the last 2 days I have had some MAJOR swelling in my feet!! I am only 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant and its bad already!! Like my ankles are the size of baseballs and it hurts to walk, feels like pins and needles! Anyone else going through this?! I have NO idea what to do to relieve it either, I've tried staying off my feet for hours, drinking more water, getting good sleep..nothing
Any suggestions would be soooo helpful!! Thanks ladies!

I'd talk to your GP, there may be a fluid tablet you can take, I know you can get them over the counter, but not sure about taking them while pregnant, so definately see a GP first.

Yer could be water retention. My feet get like that in the summer that's just cos im a fatty though lol. I just put them up with an ice pack on them and it relieves it.

I would have your blood pressure checked right away. If you need to pop into a drugstore (chemist) to do it that could work as well.

That's pretty early for the swelling to begin, I'd go ahead and have it checked

Well I went and got my blood pressure checked by the nurse and I am at normal. She said it wasnt anything to be to concerned about, mainly because I'm a bigger person and bigger women tend to swell up sooner and faster, also doing office work and sitting all day doesnt help! Guess I'll just have to learn to relax and put my feet up more often hehehe

Good job being proactive, pinkmac. Hope the swelling subsides a bit.

Hya, mine has been really bad the last few days aswell

at night i put a single duvet folded up at the end of the bed, this is for me the best way to get rid of the swelling, your ankles need to be higher than your heart, you will find that as it leaves your ankles you will need to go to the loo more.

dont take over the counter stuff as it can dehidrate you, not good for you or the bubs, i sympathise its painfull

when the weather gets hot, put ice packs on them to ease them a little but try to get them up as much as possible.

Thanks so much Shel! That was really helpful! I have been obsessing because everyone keeps telling me that I need to get it checked ASAP bc its not normal. So went again to a walkin clinic tonight. He basically said the same thing, humidity, and yes its not normal to be swelling at this time in my pregnancy but everyone is different. Im getting to go get an ultrasound earlier now! i was booked in for July 21 but now am going next week, so a lil excited about that
