I'm Currently Feeling: | Incompetent Cervix Hi,
I've just come back from my scan and been told that I've been put under the care of a consultant because previous surgery on my cervix might mean I have an incompetent cervix. I've been having pains in my cervix ever since I found out I was pregnant - do the rest of you get these? They feel like my cervix did when it was healing from the operation, I just thought that it was a symptom of all the changes going on, but now I'm worried that it might be something else. I was so looking forward to getting to my dating scan and knowing that everything was alright and now they tell me that I'm at high risk of miscarriage between 12 and 26 weeks
I haven't got my consultant appointment for another 3 weeks and am so worried - should I talk to my doctor before then? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | So sorry to hear that LuluBee xxx I can't help you re. cervix but definately go and see you doctor if you feel it might help, they should at least be able to give you some more information - I wouldn't have thought you could have taken much in today.
Thinking of you and I hope the next twelve weeks pass really quickly and everything goes well. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Oh babes, you must be a mess right now, ive never heard of it before, but having had previous sections, i worry about this.
All i can say is follow the docs advice, and try to rest as much as possible.
What im thinking is, if your lay on you back as much as you can, then you will be taking some of the pressure away from your lower stomach, where the scars are.
Good luck babes, i hope everything goes ok. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi hun
I think they usually put a stitch in at 13 weeks? but it's a very routine procedure with a high success rate so although you are bound to be worried it's better that they've discovered this now while there is something they can do about it.
I've been told I'll need one next time I get pregnant as I suffered from premature labour at 18+3 wks back in April.
I hope you are OK sweetheart xx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I had a conal biopsy done a year or so before I was pregnant with my daughter. Had the opposite problem in that the scar tissue on my cervix caused me not to dialate during labour and delivery. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thank you guys, it's so nice to have you all here. Dizzynic - I had LLETZ surgery to remove abnormnal cells (it was 10 years ago so I'm hoping it's all healed and back to normal). Am more worried because I read that treatment is normally to operate under general anaesthetic and put a stitch in your cervix and that this should be done between 12 - 14 weeks - but they haven't booked me in to see my consultant until I'm already 14 weeks. I think I'm going to call my doctor on Monday morning and see what she says about it all - she may say I'm being paranoid! |

| Hi, sorry to hear about this. My friend had an incompetent cervix and I think she had her stitch put in at 15 weeks. She went on to have a very healthy and goregous baby! Thinking of you and if you are worried contact the hospital and query it! Let me know how you get on xxx
P.S She won't think that you are being paranoid!!! |
